Any idea if a cart doesn't work?

I bought Vikings Saga some time ago. These are two games, one for each character. While the first cart works fine (excellent game, btw!!), the second just yields "insert game". No matter what I do, it never worked.

I carefully tried to grind away a bit of the plastic on the front, as it seemed a bit more than on other carts. No effect. I tweaked the cart in the slot a bit, pushed it a bit less, a bit more etc, nothing. Could it be broken? I have just one Lynx to check.

Any ideas?

I usually test all games before shipment. But maybe my Lynx is more tolerant tant others after checking all those homebrew carts.
