Asmusr
Here is a little demo I have been working on. No sprites, just character graphics. That makes is possible to have layers. The music is from an SMS game, and is played on the TI using Tursi's player.

TheMole
Awe inspiring! Is it usable for a game? In other words: is there enough CPU left for game logic?

Sure, the demo is not really optimized, and it's waiting for vsync to flip the VDP tables and then waiting for another vsync as a delay. The game logic and the drawing of other "sprites" could probably fit into that frame. Drawing the foreground could also be optimized since I'm currently drawing the entire screen (with transparent areas) instead of just the columns/trees.
