IBP
Just won it on ebay but not received it yet, it's the first atari game I've seen with a plastic box, anyone have any comments on it? The box scan on AA is of the cardboard box I think, I'm wondering about the rarity of the plastic package... http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie...gory=38597&rd=
Mayhem
Looks like a possible HES Australia release to me... most of their output were in plastic clamshells like that (though I've never seen a grey one) and they are in PAL land too. Marco
These plastic box HES releases are pretty common. Telegames must still have tons of them, and they also are found on a regular basis in Germany and Australia. Cheers, Marco
xulchris
I'm wondering about the rarity of the plastic package... It's not rare at all. Infact, it's probably more common than the cardboard version. It probably doesn't come with instructions (instead its printed on the box), and the cart is PAL not NTSC. Complete waste of money if you ask me. Sorry that you bought it.

It may not be rare but the guy that won does live in the U.K. so PAL is a good thing, right If he wants to play it, buying the NTSC version would be a waste. CincYnoTi
also, the HES version has the cool picture label, rather than the black/white NTSC release.

I had assumed that since he had never seen one in a plastic box then he was from the US.
Mayhem
RR2 was released here in cardboard to my knowledge. Only plastic casing down under...
IBP
I bought it cos I was interested in seeing what it was, I already have RRII but this one has a perfect label, which my other does not. The clamshell label claims to have the instructions on the reverse, but does not, which made me wonder if it were a repro, but I dodn't think anyone was doing repro's of River Raid II

I don't know if this is the case with HES releases, though.
Mayhem
The HES releases for the C64 I own have the instructions in one of two forms: 1) On the back of the insert 2) As a separate photocopied sheet inside the box
