I wanted to buy this but all my payment methods deny PayPal. And going by their website you have to use PayPal.

If you’re rich & and really want it, I you can buy it on ebay (the collectors editions or something).

That's ... odd? It says "Only 4 left in stock" for the Collector's Edition right now, and "Only 11 left in stock" for the Standard (which is the version I bought). I don't understand why they're selling through Amazon instead of their own site but whatever, I guess.

Probably to get more eyeballs on the product.

Has anyone purchased through Amazon?  I actually am considering it because I've gotten some gift cards.  But I am wondering - how do I get my digital copy if I buy through Amazon.  Has anyone done this?

Not sure, I purchased mine directly from Audacity.

LOL - Yeah, I set up an account there and periodically go log in and stare at the order button . . . not pressing it.  The Amazon gift card may get me over the edge . . .

I'm not sure how people got their collector roms in the first place  Let us know how this goes.

I got the game.  It does indeed come with a QR code.  I tried to go to the address, but it doesn't work.  It says it is registering the game, but then tells me it hit an error.

There is absolutely no reference to the digital copy in any of the documents that came with the game, and no instructions on how to contact Audacity to get the digital copy.

Sounds like a job for @TikiDan

It worked.  It's just a problem with stupid QR codes.  I hate them.  In this case, it generated a string to the audacity website with a suffix.  It wouldn't navigate there automatically on my phone for some reason (because QR navigation is terrible), so I took the string and typed it into a web browser on my computer.  Of course, that didn't work and gave me an error.  Tried again on the phone - error.

On my phone, I had to manually type https:// in front of the string it generated and then tap it and choose "navigate" or "go" or whatever the fnck.  Then when I logged in it didn't generate the error and registered my copy.

Once your copy is registered, you go to the "manage" section of the website.  From there you can click a button to email yourself a download code or click another button to "sell" your copy of the game.  Why this couldn't be explained before purchasing, I don't know.

I already started the game in Stella, and it works.

Here is a review of the game.

Wait, this review says it was a digital-only release from Atari for their modern VCS console. But the tweet from Garry Kitchen says it’s being released by Audacity. Is it going to be a cartridge release with a nice box, manual, etc? Color me confused.

Also, what happened to Casey’s Gold?

Originally it was VCS exclusive.

Now its coming out on cart form a year later.

Audacity says Casey's Gold's gameplay isn't up to snuff yet.

I'm gonna buy it, of course, even the deluxe edition, if possible, and it DOES look fun.

But it just looks like H.E.R.O., w/o any real evolution.

Not that that is bad, necessarily, but on the surface it doesn't seem to add anything "slightly new and interesting", in the way Circus Convoy did.

Again-it looks good. Perfectly fine.

But to be clear, it would have been more honest, and mebbe even more profitable, to have called it H.E.R.O. 2.

I can understand your perspective, but I see lots of changes here.  Definitely would fit into a category above "slightly new" for me.

  • Energy meter AND Health meter
  • New flight mechanic
  • Different/No bombs
  • New obstacles

Yeah the game kinda looks and plays like HERO, but you will have to learn an entirely new way to play this.

I definitely agree with you on the point that they would have sold more if calling it HERO 2 . . .

@DrVenkman @JagChris @wongojack

Alien Abduction was released in a small batch as a physical cartridge CIB at the CORGSCON (Columbus, OH) on Saturday, June 1st.

I purchased a Collector's Edition w/Authentication Card and had John Van Ryzen sign the box for me. David Crane and Gary Kitchen were also there, but I missed them because I had my own vendor tables of stuff and did not have much time to get away.

I have not played it yet, but I did scan the QR Code on the game title screen and downloaded the ROM as well for my personal use.

No pic of Mr Van Ryzen?

Unfortunately, no. I was lucky to even have seen him as we were all shutting down our tables and I had to go to bathroom (first time all day). Just so happened to walk by his table.
