So I watched James' last show "Jaguar Rotary Controller Special" and realize people may benefit from a few pictures on how I put the controller back together.

Note I used heat tube on the center post. I have switched to using just electrical tape because it is more flexible.

I also cover the old D-pad contacts with electrical tape. In the last two pictures, I use tape again just to hold the wires into place as I put the controller's back cover on.

As I firmly hold the back cover in place, I make sure all the buttons in the front have not moved. Push on them and make sure they all feel normal.

Make sure the back cover and front cover go together right and the seams are correct.

Put the top two screws(slightly shorter screws) on first, and then do the bottom two screws(longer screws).

STEP by STEP:

Make sure all the buttons are still in place and put back cover on.

While holding back cover firmly in place, push all the buttons and make sure they correct.

Put top screws in, then bottom. Install knob and test controller.

Pretty slick piece of kit. I especially like that it is a completely reversible mod. Couple questions, though. How is a B series controller identified and can it be done so without opening the controller? Also, are you using a 16 or 24 pulse encoder? The reason I'm asking about controller identification is because a large cache of NOS Jaguar controllers has recently hit eBay at a relatively not terrible price ($50). I was asked back in the day to add spinners to Jaguar controllers like 20 years ago and the general means of doing so at the time was to drill a hole in the center rear of the controller and put the encoder there. It broke my heart to do it that way even then and this is leaps and bounds better.

If you look at the back of the controller, there is a serial number. It will have the "B" in it.

I use the 24 pulse encoder. That seems to be the sweet spot.

I have a bunch of the NOS D-pads and the rubber pad if you ever need those.

I came up with the 3D printed pieces. I've thought about a potential design that would be universal no matter what controller was to be used but they're pretty different interfaces so if Machine ever wants to do another run in the future I'll probably just create an additional part to cover both.

Thanks John!

I am working on building a few more kits, possibly with a NOS controller and a new rotary box.

I may also have some already-built controllers with the box.

I have been trying to get a box printed with slightly brighter colors and want to slightly reduce the box size by 1/4" (height & weight).

I should have something in the next few weeks or so.
