Lynx Gamedrive - DOA?

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

I recently ordered and received a Gamedrive from Retrotowers. Inserting it into a Lynx Mk II, I just get the 'insert game' screen. There is a memory card in it with the firmware update and rom folders on, although I think I've read that I should still get to the gamedrive home screen even without a memory card?

Have tried removing and reinserting it, applying pressure in different ways, etc. Standard game carts work fine so there's nothing obviously wrong with the cart slot. Is there anything else I can try/test? Do these cards sometimes turn up DOA?

Thanks!

If a clean of the card edge doesn’t solve the problem, it does sound like it may be defective. It’s extremely uncommon for this to happen, but as long as your Lynx is fine playing other carts, it does sound likely!

I find it quite common for the card edge to become dirty from finger prints, etc, and can have issues — even when new. So a good clean may solve the problem.

Hi,

Just regarding the above comment, do you mean you've sent an email to me regarding returning the Gamedrive? I sent a message to the RetroHQ 'contact us' link per the advice of Retrotowers but haven't seen a response.

Thanks!

Yes, replied on Tuesday about 10 mins after you sent it, you might want to check the junk items. :)

I'll drop a copy of the message via DM in-case it's gotten lost.
