Creamhoven
No one here can love or understand me Oh, what hard luck stories they all hand me Pack up all my cares and woe, here I go, winging low Bye, bye, blackbird Hello fellow atari lovers, a friend of mine is very lonely. This poor fellow has increasingly isolated himself over the last few years in his dark gaming cave. It is so easy these days to get affirmation from videogames, like you are the center of the earth. The dark cloud that is online multiplayer has consumed him, but what are online gaming wins worth if they dont manifest in the physical world? You can hunt that dopamin all you want, but if you end up burned out and isolated what is it worth? I wish he would reconsider and seek to find more friends finding a better way. I worry he will end up like a crushed stone in a clockwork in shambels. With communities torn apart by mordern life and public places were lovers get to meet becoming increasingly rare, maybe it is time for a virtual solution. Online dating is popular these days, but it is crude and primitive. The japanese with their sophistication were able to to develop such masterpieces as tokimeki memorial. Why not use this incredible development of dating joy and make it a virtual IRL experience. By this I mean gaming experinces that are dedicated to let lovers meeting up in a gaming world. This way my poor friend might be enticed to get to meet a nice girl. Or hey if he gets anyone to meet really, thats fine. At this point I wouldnt mind if it's someone who chose to surgically change his/her reproductive organs. It is a free country anyway. Please share your thoughts. 1 Quote Link to comment https://forums.atariage.com/topic/351019-irl-dating-sim/ Share on other sites

Perhaps I am overthinking this, but are not "virtual" and "real life" two opposites? I do not understand how they can be brought together. FYI, virtual dating has existed since the 1980s -- online chat existed long before the Internet. Heck, I was catfished by someone ca. 1989, many years before that phrase even existed in the popular consciousness. 1 Quote Link to comment https://forums.atariage.com/topic/351019-irl-dating-sim/#findComment-5254706 Share on other sites

How did it feel to be catfished at a time it wasnt a thing yet? You are correct, there is a certain tension between the idea of virtual reality and IRL. My idea here is that the dating itself is/should be real life, while the space of this IRL experience is VR. I think we need new terms differentiating VR experiences that are more artifical and those that are real.
