I would love to see some pictures of the old Atari Canada HQ in Markham, Ontario! It was an ugly brown building in a nondescript business park, to which I made repeated pilgrimages to get my 1050 repaired (before I learned how to do it myself). Ah, the memories...

No kidding.  Did find this 2019 real estate listing of the second floor of "Unit 1" though it occupied Units 1 and 2 IIRC.  At least we can get a peek inside of what might have been...

Does that bring back memories! There must have been some type of renovation -- I recall that Atari Canada had its own entrance. I also don't recall a second floor.

When you walked in, there was a front counter that was staffed by a man. There was a repair "shop" in the back, as well. It was a really small operation when I frequented it in the mid to late '80s -- I can't remember seeing more than five employees there.

The vapourware lists were great fun -- I'm just sorry that I didn't keep them for the XEGS.

Oh yeah, '98 was a wild year.

That was just right before the suck set in and ruined everything.

'99: Dot-Com job.

'00: Same Dot-Com job, but with a focus shift that led to...

'01: The company tanks.

Worked the parts counter at AutoZone for a couple of years after that.  Wish I'd realised how much less crap that job was compared to eventually going back into tech.  It was a crap job, and make no mistake about it, but at least it was a crap job where I didn't have to care about it.

I was there in the area in 2021 and drove around... Seems like it was Google or all demolished or being torn down.

As I recall, when I plugged the addresses into Google Maps, it couldn't really make much sense of the area now. It was confused.

Thank you for this little trip in photos 🙂

I have one more question 🙂 Is that wall still there?

Unfortunately, both 1265 Borregas Ave. and 1196 Borregas Ave. have been demolished and replaced by another building and a parking lot, respectively.

I took some when I was on a trip in the area back in 2008: http://www.atariprotos.com/other/sunnyvale/sunnyvale.htm

I did something similar before I left the area in 2001 after the dot-bomb crash.  No idea if the pictures survived, but from what I recall most of the buildings were still standing then.
