I've ordered from Amazon Japan too, the tax thing is right, and the shipping usually is pretty cheap down to free depending on the vendor.  He has a point, what Analogue is pulling is shady as shit with their shipping costs because under no metric of reality it really adds up.

 

In perspective, before I quit selling on ebay wih the tax change in that last year I had a few boxes of stuff that went out that went into the many pounds of goods, usually around the 4+ mark.  About that point things get really muddy between USPS, UPS, Fedex on rates, but they also kind of blob together where it's not like an obvious winner if you stick to just one.  The analogue product isn't in that level of weight unless you're ordering multiple systems and accessories, boxes of stuff into a big box. 
 

That's not the case here, and why I bring this up, that's what USPS was charging ($40+) for a box of notable weight their priority flat rate boxes couldn't do...it got into freight level pricing which from them is absurd so the other shippers were notably less.

 

So what would cause them using USPS to have some freight level shipping prices on a box I'd imagine is around a single pound of weight??  When I ordered my SuperNt and then in the previous to this truly 'last run' of Mega Sg when I got them the shipping was as I said before in the smaller range of things which fits conveniently into current rates.  But now you see a thing like the Pocket adapters now shipping not at $15 but $30 (US) and now seeing a console that would have shipped at $20 now for $30-50 domestic based on distance?  Again I point back to, are they charging a handling fee and hiding it, or did they get into some truly incompetent shipping contract?  They're either idiots (contract) or scumbags (pocketing it.)

I know they're seemingly hiding it, it was more of a rhetorical question basing it on them hiding stuff or being idiots with the worst possible shipping contract ever they could find for themselves.  I still have my own receipts on the other consoles I have and it's the same way, just shipping.
