3 "NEW GAMES" Available SOON + your opinion please!

Hello everyone.

We'll soon distribute Rick Dynamite, Runaway Train and Cavern of Mars for Intellivision, in our own packaging.

We'll show you the boxes soon. These games will be limited to 20 copies initially, and if another 20 or more people want them before a certain date, we'll do a 2nd set. It's really a question of pleasing Côté Gamers fans and allowing them to have certain games in our packaging.

But I have a question for the fans: which games would you like us to reissue in our packaging?

Yes! VARIATION TIME!!!!! 4-Tris, Smurf: Rescue in Gargemmel's Castle, Super Mine-Field and everything else I missed out on  :lolblue:

But seriously speaking, it would be cool to see a new version of 4-Tris. Call back to Homebrew #1 in big box form and give everyone 1 last chance to own the legend.

I think that 20 years later, an even better implementation can be made with, many more bells and whistles, in IntyBASIC.  Not that there is anything wrong with the original 4-Tris itself -- but the Intellivision programming community has gain quite a lot of knowledge and experience in the intervening years to exploit the hardware even more!

I'm guessing that your packaging means in your big box style with an assortment of other goodies like cards and little figures.

As far as what games we would like to see you repackage, what games do you have the rights to repackage that can be possibilities?

I personally am not in a great financial spot to repurchase already existing games in another form, plus I am not a serious variant collector myself.

That being said, pretty sure you can find at least 20 buyers of those games in the big box style!

Do you have pics of what they'll look like? Cost?

Not for the moment, but Wolfy62 is right. Theses games will have big boxes with special overlays, poster and cards.

Arent these games all still available, from several resellers?

Yes they are, but we're publishing these 20 copies to please our fans, nothing more. We understand that not everyone is interested. The aim is not to sell large quantities.

I'm surprised that you don't rename Caverns of Mars to a non-infringing name, as you renamed the other game. Or maybe it lines up with the Colecovision version of the same game. Perhaps Konami are worse to deal with than Atari?

How about "Maverns Of Cars"?  Or maybe "Caves Of The Red Planet"?  😄

Perhaps I should start a new career coming up with game names and suggestions how to change graphics, sounds and attack waves in order to make existing ports of games satisfactory non-infringing (or at least to the point that a lawyer would have to put a bit of effort before sending out a C&D letter). However I know that not all collectors want non-infringing games, they rather want bootleg ports of games that could have existed.

Sounds like a money maker!

In all seriousness, I know that you have strong opinions on the subject (as I do), but I think there is an opportunity for you and other highly creative individuals to offer suggestions, ideas, guidance, and even their own work, to assist programmers in creating original games that go beyond merely re-dressing existing properties. :)

So, in the interest of constructive criticism, I offer the following response to @tanuki's original question:  What about producing more new and original games rather than re-issuing already published home-brews?

All we did was buy the pcb from the developers of these versions ;) We are not responsible for the names.

Aha, so it is 8-Bit Milli who came up with the renaming, and you just produce deluxe packaging for the same game they sell in standard packaging.

I guess it was to try to avoid cannibalizing existing sales of Stop The Express.

By the way, is it just me, or does anybody else think of this song immediately when they see that name?

(Even more so than Trans Europa Express.)

Like 5 resellers are fighting to (re)sell the same 4 games.   The amazing part is how they all agreed to share the same sales market.

What a time to be alive!!!!

Use the existing code and make a whole new game.

Runaway Bride

Just take the player sprite and paint it white, and give it a flowing veil at the back of the head as it runs, and you can keep the same game!
