Easing my way back in....

Hi all.

Had one or two issues , RL related.  Not been very well tbh but you can't keep a monster down that easy, you know?

I don't want to be taking on too much .. but I have been "tinkering" ... Just a bit at a time ...

Game idea:  Make a game that's like Parsec AND lunar rescue.  You do the parsec stage first , few waves of enemies, then you rescue astronauts, then it loops back round but harder.

So far I came up with this.  It's the first stage.  Not got the lunar rescue bit in yet.

I like. I think it's much more visual appealing than Parsec.

It's also easier to concentrate on the game play with out the laser making noise and stretching across the screen.

Looking forward to it.

I've had an idea why they did that long laser.  It's all down to the exhaust flame at the back of the Parsec Starship.

Without that exhaust, we would have , the player ship , the enemy, and the player missile and enemy missile, that's 4 sprites. With the exhaust flame that's 1 too many sprites on a line.
So they had to think about that and they came up with the long laser beam.  I don't have the exhaust flame so I have nothing to worry about! :)

Are you going to be having some speech?

Possibly not , no ... The speech is fine and all, but it won't play whilst things are happening on the screen and that's an issue.

Tell ya what... Firing until you ship blew up would never EVER get by OSHA! 😃

Ha .. and I have a theory on why they made the ship blow up for firing too long.  Once they realized they had to use the long laser line , they'd have thought "well the player might just be able to permanently fire and move up and down" so I reckon they put a timer on it for that reason.  I might be wrong.  But I bet I'm not!  haha.

We used a laser in our game because it was one VCHAR draw instead of trying to move a bullet 12 spaces. I guess it worked.

You know, Bynites can cloak...

Yeah they used black instead of transparent which I'll never figure out why.  I did think about cloaking ability for the game, I was gonna have it so that if you pressed a key it would go invisible and the enemies wouldn't be able to lock on.  But then it wouldn't be as much fun!

Well, as everyone knows, real cloaking devices produce a distortion effect when the object is in motion.  By using black instead of transparent, TI properly depicted a cloaking device in operation, maintaining realism.

Absolutely. Some of the background stars would be "blacked out", so you could have an idea of where it is.

Going toe - to - toe with Dramites whilst controlling a Bynite is fun.   New enemy for 4th wave.  Guided missiles.  No player collision yet.

Game now uses Parsec-style enemy warnings.   (Only warns of new wave, not repeated enemies)

Absolutely brilliant man.

Keep yourself well.

IMBECILE-E << EA5 file 1 of 2
IMBECILE-F << EA5 file 2 of 2

IMBECILE-X << Extended basic program file

Here's a quick arcade blaster for you all to play whilst "The Last Bynite" is being written.

"Insidious Imbeciles" is a Space Invaders genre game, without some of the fun.  It's not bad though.

You score 10 points for all normal aliens and the bonus UFO that flies atop the screen gives a mystery bonus.

Your player ship comes with a 4-speed gearbox, pressing keys 1,2,3 and 4 will select these gears. You start the game in Gear 2.

You have base blocks between you and the enemy.  You are able to shoot through these and so are the aliens.

The game keeps your score and high score on screen whilst it is in play. Player lives are displayed also.

Happy Shooting.
