+jedimatt42
Seems like the word "text" should show up in the Kickstarter description. Sure, young folk can Google Infocom, but I would expect to see the phrase "text adventure" instead of simply the term "adventure" Question I would ask in the FAQ if I were willing to login to Kickstarter: - Is the game already written? ---- If I were interested in text adventures, I still wouldn't want to back the authoring up front, but could understand up front backing of the physical deliverables with compensation for the authoring included.
Reciprocating Bill
BTW, your cover art pyramid most closely resembles a Mayan structure (southern Mexico, Central America), but Incan ruins characterize structures found in Peru (e.g. Machu Picchu). Garry
For those that are interested, I can assure you that the game exists. How do I know? Because I spent two months working on it, answering questions, providing advice and sample code, testing and providing transcripts and bug reports on 9 beta versions, then completely rewriting it when the final version was still a disaster. At no point did the author tell me that he intended to make this a commercial game. I thought I was just doing a favour for a new author and he took advantage of my goodwill. If this sounds ethical to you, then by all means back it. Otherwise, send me a DM and I'll send you the z3 or z5 file of the version I wrote for free. It may still be a bit buggy, as I was getting sick of it by this time. The game itself is okay, but not great. You can get much better text adventures (including mine) for free.

Now that does not sound fair to me. I'd like to hear @Shift838 's comment on this, and if this is really what happened then I will most definitely back out of supporting this project. Shift838
Guys.. I have been in the hospital for over a week and just got home this past weekend. I have been doing all my correspondence from my phone, but it stopped working and since it is a company phone I had to wait until I went back to work (monday) to have it looked at. Well in short, it was hacked/cloned or whatever while I was in the hospital and whoever did it had access to all my facebook, etc.. luckily it is a work phone so they did not have access to my banking info. But facebook, atariage, etc.. they had. I think they even spoofed my IP. In short. I did not start a kickstarter for this and was not planning to do so. I do have a plan to do something for other games but I am working with Scott Adams to gain approvals for new games (not coded yet). I have reset passwords on many sites and still trying to find everywhere this has been posted to get them removed or respond. I was able to get the kickstart project cancelled. budz2355
For what it's worth, I've never had any problems with Chris. He helped me almost 10 year ago when I got back into the TI community here. He remoted directly into my TI's IP address (several of us used to connect to the internet via UDS-10/rs232 before the tipi was created) to help me and also sent me a whole bunch of games on 5.25" floppies as well as blank diskettes. He even would help me with problems on the phone if I just needed to call someone for troubleshooting.
Garry
Chris struck me as being a pretty friendly bloke, so let's give him the benefit of the doubt. He may have been the subject of a very sophisticated scam. He has contacted me to explain what happened. He has cancelled the Kickstarter campaign and deleted all the Facebook posts related to this campaign. If anyone finds any that have not been deleted, perhaps let him know. Let this be a warning to be very careful about supporting any Kickstarter campaign unless you are very sure that it is legitimate. Whover did this did a lot of research, had inside information about the game, knew what platforms the game could be supported on and went to a lot of trouble to create box art and feelies. carlsson
Like I wrote in the Commodore section, this is a new to me form of hacking, if he really tells what happened.

From a cybersecuriy perspective, this is something to be analyzed. A whole new level of impersonation.
roots.genoa
To be fair, the Kickstarter page was quite rudimentary, even for a modest homebrew project, but it's still convoluted for a hacking, unless the hacker is someone very close to him. To me it sounds like Chris regretted launching this campaign and can't admit his mistake. Edited August 24 by roots.genoa
Garry
The Kickstarter page includes a 16-minute video with voice-over and demonstrations of the game running on various platforms. This means that the "hacker" had also stolen the source code for the game, compiled it to run on various platforms, had intimate knowledge of PunyInform and the tool chain needed to compile to those platforms and stolen Chris' voice, as well. Yes, certainly a sophisticated scam. 2 2
