Mine Run ... a TI basic game

mine run ti basic.zip

This is a little game for TI Basic.  It's a WAV file so you can load it like a cassette.

In this game you're a lunatic who likes to run across mine fields jumping over said mines out of sheer boredom.

The lunatic is constantly moving to the right, pressing SPACE will make the lunatic jump.

There are 3 mines in each screen to jump over.  Completion of a screen awards the lunatic 1 point.

The first 4 screens are in broad daylight, just to prove it I displayed the Sun at the top of the screen.

The next 4 screens are in darkness, the Sun changes colour to white to pretend to be the Moon.  This is where it gets hardy pardy.

In the darkness mode, the game will flash the mines on and off briefly.  Then they go black.  It's up to you to remember where they were!

After 4 screens of utter torture, the game resumes daylight for another 4 screens.

Have fun!

... especially on "cassette" for the sheer nostalgia.

That just reminds me of those moments when you waited for CS1 to complete loading your 10K program, and then, after minutes, the noise from the speaker died, no DATA OK, and an error message popped up.

Yep I remember having that issue with one of my games!   This still happens with emulation if you're using MP3 instead of WAV  :)
(The same as it did for real cassettes .... if you used a standard Audio cassette it would happen.  Proper Data cassettes were different)

having played this game further and i managed to survive one run at night mode, i found it only does 1 night mode run and then back to daylight.

i'm not sure if i *should* fix this as night mode is horrendously hard!   if anyone's bothered let me know and i'll fix it at some point ;)

Maybe throw in a lightening flash now and again to see the mines in night mode?
