I kind of hate punny names, so here are some blander suggestions:

Syzygy

Cyan

PGS (Programmable Game System)

SCGS (Stella Compatible Game System)

SCES (Stella Compatible Entertainment System)

NCS (Nostalgia Compatible System)

^Some combination:

   -Syzygy SCGS

   -Syzygy SCES

   -Cyan PGS

2601

2600 DX (2600 Deluxe)

Stella DX (since we seem to be stuck on "Stella")

SyzygyDX

I would suggest going with a unique name in the end.  Something that will show up nicely in a web search.

I tend to agree with this as well,  we don't want to repeat the mistake of the Atari VCS 800 name and make sure people can find it easily with a search. You should also be able to say it out loud and not have to repeat yourself or have to spell it out because the name sounds ambiguous or confusing. I'd also stay away from names that are funny right now such as +'s beside the name.

My favourite so far is:

  • StellaNova

Some more suggestions:

  • StellaStar
  • StellaStation
  • StellaLuna
  • StellaSolar
  • StellaNebula
  • StellaPulse
  • StellaEternal
  • StellaInfinite
  • StellaSonic
  • StellaSpecter

A thing I should note is that this is probably gonna be made using Raspberry Pi components, so maybe we could call the OS on it "StellaELEC" while we could call the hardware components "StellaPi".

These might be a bit bland, but I think it might work.

Are we sure the Pi will stay after the prototyping phase?

For me the focus is on DIY and open source. We might switch to a cheaper/better board. But the Pi is very well documented and there are a lot of examples and projects for the pi out there.

There is a Pi like board with same RockChip CPU like the 2600+ (mentioned here)

I still like 2600++ (it's double-plus good), but some of the other names are good, too.

Agreed on the no-Pi name. What are the constants, then... Stella, Real-time cart read.

@Dionoid mentioned RTStella or StellaRT. RTStella seems to roll off the tongue slightly better.

Kicking it in a different direction: referencing the longevity of the original system, now in its 6th decade:

"Beyond6"

Or keeping one of the standard naming cues: StellaBeyond.

(Maybe too StarTrek-y, but it's lyrical)

2600:TNG 😁
