Pirate Pete (Jungle Hunt Hack)

Recommended Posts

Jungle King was the first Arcade game I played in my life, for me at that time it was phenomenal to hear the voice, the digitized scream of the hero in animated and colorful pixel drawings. I was equally delighted when a home version officially came out for the Atari 2600, even though the port was inferior to the Arcades, in terms of graphics and sound, but I still had a lot of fun with this game and it was and is one of the classics that will forever remain in my memory.
It was also a surprise to discover later at the turn of the millennium that Jungle Hunt existed in the Arcades and even more so to learn that there was a third version with a pirate theme.

I tried my best to apply this pirate theme on top of the original Jungle Hunt version, even with all the limitations.
I wanted as many colors as possible involved, as throughout the series there is a real explosion of colors when the stages restart.
The soundtrack and sound effects were almost completely changed.
Something I haven't managed (yet) is to key the rom and leave it at 16kb so that the stages restart with new colors, similar to what happens in the Arcade versions.
It has labels so we can imagine what it would look like on a real cart.
I hope everyone likes it.
