I have a dsk image of Micro Chess that runs on AppleWin or Apple][ and runs on my IIe and IIc on real floppy disk but will not run on GSplus nor mapped on my GS with Fujinet card on SmartPort.

The same for Multiplan or any other 160k dsk image.

Most of the times the message is: Unable to load Prodos

There's your problem right there. Normal Apple II disk images are 140K not 160k. Being 160k the GS won't recognize them as Apple II disks. The easiest way to turn them into 2mg images is to use AppleWin to copy the files from the disk image to a 2mg image. Load up Copy ][+ and make sure the 2mg image is formatted, then copy the files from your 160k image to the 2mg. Don't try doing a disk copy because Copy ][+ will complain about size mismatch, if I remember right.

If you search the 4am collection on Internet Archive for microchess, there is a cleanly cracked version there (it's v2.0 of microchess, not sure if that is the exact one you are looking for) that I'm sure the DSK image will work for you. 4am's releases are more or less the gold standard for Apple II floppy images.

I didnt see anyone mention ciderpress for working with  disk images.

I have had problems with disk images and emulators occasionally . applewin being the all but GS emulator does 51/4 in #6 as 140K and 2mg but only on #7. Gsplus kegs and activeGS do 800K on #5 140K on #6 and hd images or somewhat larger disk images on #7. I have issues with 1.4 mb floppys in #5 and dont behave like floppys in #7.

The applewin emu seems to get a lot of updates but there doesnt seem to be a lot of love for the GS for some reason.

No apple IIs natively supported 1.4mb floppies. You had to have a special drive interface card and a SuperDrive/FDHD to use 1.4mb floppies.

A stock IIgs should handle 140k floppies in slot 6, and 800k floppies and smartport hard drives in slot 5 using the built in drive interface (IWM).

I can't speak to any IIgs emulators on how they are configured with any optional interface cards for handling other drive types, as I rarely use emulators, especially IIgs emulators.
