Power supply for Fairchild Model F II/Adman Grandstand

Recommended Posts

Hi - I have an Adman Grandstand console, which as I understand it is a rebadged Fairchild Model F II, which came with a 240v power supply, that I am not keen to use for two reasons, one being its age, and the other that it will require a step down to 120v for me to use.

Available PSU information for this console seems to be pretty thin - I'm hoping that someone may have previously found a solution, or would at least know specs so that I can search for a modern substitute.

The attached picture shows the 4 pin connector from the console. The power supply has the matching female connector, and AC 240v printed on the label, but no further specs.

I don't know how much this will help, but I checked my US spec console and found the AC Adapter is hard-wired in. I grabbed some pics for you though, in case the info is useful for you. :)

Thanks for the photos - is your console an original or a model ii?

I believe the model ii had an external PSU like my Grandstand.

This is my 240v psu, however the specs are not printed on it.

It's an original. If you like I can crack it open and grab some pics of the inside, where the power comes in to see what it connects up to... if you think that'll be any help.

BTW.. I didn't notice before I posted the pics but my power supply looks like it has info that might be relevant to yours. It notes the output to pins 3 and 4 is different than what it is to 1 and 2... and your plug has 4 pins. If you have a multimeter you can measure what's coming off each pin. If they end up matching to what's printed on mine you'd be a step closer to finding a suitable replacement.

These are my readings, using my cheap and cheerful meter.

After a little more searching, an older thread has a transformer listed (AliExpress) that has a dual, 9v and 15v ac output. Provided I can find a suitable case to mount it in, and a female 4 pin connector, I may be in luck?
