ColecoVision Emulator for Linux Mint?

Recommended Posts

Are there any decent ColecoVision emulators available for Linux Mint yet?

I have tried to install blueMSX into Wine to try to get it to work with LM, but it freezes whenever I insert a ROM.

Hence, if you can think of any decent CV emulators for LM, please let me know.

Thank you,

Retroarch - this has a couple of Colecovision cores that can be downloaded-  BlueMSX, and GearColeco

CoolCV

Mame has a built-in Coleco emulator

ColEM - one of the oldest Coleco emulators and still gets updated

All these have native Linux ports

I followed some links and all I can find is that the Android version of ColEm has been updated significantly but the last time the PC version was updated was 2021.

If I knew C then I would write a brand new version with my own take on it.
Some of the emulators out there I have seen take a shell that someone else wrote for a similar system and adapted it for the Colecovision yet haven't a clue how the shell works outside of a basic understanding.  They change parameters and hope for the best.

They pop up from time to time on EMUFRANCE or some other emulation distribution site.

As far as Linux, do you SUDO in some emulator from somewhere or is there some package distro you have to reply on?
I haven't used Linux in about 20 years so I have no clue what's been updated.

I just know if I own the machine and am the administrator then I have no business typing in a password every time I want to take a pee.

zzip, you have quadrunner status.  One would gather that you have been around for a while.
So I would ask you where are the ColEM updates?
I ask in all seriousness because I rely heavily on it for debugging my work and no one seems to have heard from Marat? for ages now.
I have seen no updates and there is also a chat group in gmail, I think it was, for emulators and Colem, who also have no idea about the guy.
Did he give up, is he even alive?

The last post he ever made in his AA thread was Feb of 2022

Heh, Well we may be talking relative timeframes here.      ColEm was one of the early 90s scene emulators, it went on hiatus and returned from the dead several years back and started getting updates again.

But I only update my emulators once a year now, and many emulators are mature enough that they don't even get annual updates anymore, so if there hasn't been an update to Colem since 2022, I wouldn't have noticed that yet..

Hopefully Marat is still alive,   He may have lost interest again (for now)

Thanks for the answer.
I did what I was supposed to do before asking questions.
My ex wife used to say look with your eyes and not your mouth.
So, I followed the Android Link which shows the Android version was just updated last September.
So, like anyone with common sense you go where the money takes you.

I have CoolCV, for what it's worth. Any pointers as to how to install it via SUDO, please?

Thank you,

I just put mine in a directory:  /opt/emulator/Coleco/coolcv/,  then I tell my front-end how to run it.
