PRGE Jaguar Museum Footage?

Recommended Posts

I heard there was a room dedicated to the Jaguar at PRGE this year. Anyone have some good pictures or video footage to share with those of us that couldn't make it? Good write-ups of the Jaguar content in general?

So far I've watched the videos of Rich's BigPEmu talk and the 30th anniversary reunion talk, but haven't been able to find much else with a little googling. Hoping there's some content out there I missed!

I didn't get a chance to stream from the Jaguar museum while I was filming at PRGE but John Hancock included some footage in his video below from approximate time stamps of 1:06 to 2:30.

Thanks for linking to that video.  That looks like a crazy cool display!  I wish I could have seen it in person.  One of these years I will fly out to the PRGE.  It's a 30-hour drive, so it's not easy to make it out there.  It seems like they get so much cool stuff - why not share some of the love with the Midwest Gaming Classic, which started its life as Jagfest?

Awesome, thanks guys! I would have loved to have seen this in person, but couldn't make it work this year. Had I been there, I definitely would have volunteered for a mouth X-ray/picture from the Jaguar dental machine!

It's a great display in general. The only thing I don't see that I've always wanted is this mug:

Damn, a lot of time was put into that! Looks great.

I'd love to attend PRGE, but unfortunately I'm on the other side of the country in Boston (yeah I know, could be worse!). Hopefully some year I manage to make it happen.

The first time I had the chance to finally attend a convention of any sort it was PAX East several years ago. It was cool and all but it's more like paying to attend a multi-day advertisement than a hobbyist thing. There's a lot of upcoming large-scale commercial projects being shoved in your face. Most disappointing was the console freeplay room, which when a friend first made me aware of it, I imagined a room full of novel & lesser-known consoles, awesome! Nope, it was all stuff I could go play at a friend's house.

Thanks for all those awesome photos of the Jaguar setup, especially the panorama!

The console free play area at last year's PRGE was the first time I got to play all those consoles I saw in magazines or store displays but didn't have access to as a kid (TG16, the later pre-Lynx Atari machines, etc). The vibe at the show in general was great. I didn't feel any commercial influence the whole time. Even the vender area was filled with legit retro merch for the most part, rather than big companies or nostalgia milkers. I highly recommend attending if you can.

I was honored to have my Jaguar and Lynx Collection in the museum.   This was the fifth consecutive year that some of my collection has been on display and was happy to share with others.   It feels so much  better having games on display versus boxes.

On a side note, the best electronics box in the glass  display is a refurbished Jag CD unit that I got repaired when they were still doing that.

Yup, that's exactly the picture that immediately formed in my mind when I saw the console freeplay room on the PAX East map. I hauled ass up there and... wtf. They didn't even have a legit Neo Geo, their "Neo Geo" mentioned in the list of consoles turned out to be the highly-criticized Neo Geo X from 2012. It attempted a Switch-like setup where you could play it as a handheld (with graphics stretched to fit the 16:9 screen...) or plug it into a docking station to play on TV. It looked the part, but was lambasted for its muddy visuals, screen-tearing, and audio issues.

Furthermore (and I'm just learning this now), apparently SNK Playmore thought it sucked so much that they ordered its licensee, Tommo, to immediately cease production & pull all stock from store shelves. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Neo_Geo_X#Reception

I may have to start setting aside money for an eventual PRGE trip!
