1.1r6 -- the ones I thought were the latest (July 2024)?

Can confirm Rampage 7800 works fine on it. The Atari 2600+ official compatibility lists shows it as working (DD), but it will not work for me. As I said it works on an original 7800 so I don't think it's circuit board related...unless it is LOL

Ok, you have 1.1r6 firmware, but make sure you also update the dumper to version x.03.  Many people update the firmware but not the dumper because they don't realize the dumper is a separate update.  If you have updated it, then please forgive my butting in.  🙂

There is still a chance it’s dirty/corroded pin related. The 2600+ is a little picky, especially with Activision carts. I’ve gotten in the habit of only inserting carts 1/2 to 3/4 of the way in. If I still get a loading issue, fiddling with the cart in the slot usually resolves it. I also deep cleaned all my carts to get them as good as possible.

The 7800+ (and a yet to be released 2nd rev 2600+) is supposed to have a redesigned cartridge slot that reads the carts better. I suspect that, plus the FW updates should fix these issues once and for all.

Hit the local retro game store again today and picked up Sega's Congo Bongo, Space Chase by Apollo, and Atari's 2600 Realsports Boxing. All play perfect for $20.

Congo Bongo 2600, only two of the 4 stages thou a great 2600 port..

Do people fall for this type of scam? 😲 300 Euros (335 Dollars) for a second hand 2600+.....

Unfortunately, every once in a while, I am sure someone does fall for this type of thing.

And it is sad to see sellers intentionally taking advantage of people. Just because a customer should know better does not make it ok to take advantage of them.

I had Battlezone as a kid, and got it again for the 2600+. Yesterday I read about a similar game, so it's now on the way, as well as a new label for it.

Great game,I have more nostalgia for Battlezone(PAL),but think Robot Tank is a better game.

Excellent choice!

I have both Battlezone and Robot Tank, and I actually prefer Robot tank a little more.  In Robot Tank, parts of the tank can get damaged and you're still going.   Tracks, cannon, radar, vision can get damaged and it's a challenge!  I also love the changes in weather and sunlight. Battlezone, it's just a hit and you're gone.

Either way, both games are excellent and worthy to have.

I have enjoyed both Battlezone and Robot Tank, although you def have to play the NTSC version of Battlezone as the PAL version is one of the worst. Yuck.

It's a shame that Battlezone is no longer Atari IP, I have talked about that before, but a thought just struck me, how about Atari makes a sequel called... BattlezTwo?

The franchise would then be established at 'Battlez'... The first game was then unofficially always 'BattlezOne'. 💁‍♂️

You can have that one for free Atari. 😁

Ok so I asked this somewhere else and didn’t get an answer, but I think I have most of the old games I want, and now I want to start getting AtariAge carts and other aftermarket games.

There are no clear statements on listings or boxes on what is and isn’t compatible with the 2600+/7800+

I thought maybe there could be an identifying sticker added to the wrapping or whatever to make it clear what does and doesn’t work.

please forgive the crudeness of this sketch

Personally, I think Robot Tank is a better developed game. I play Battlezone more often thou, maybe it's just nostalgia..

This game is great! I did't play for long, as I was just testing it to make sure it worked, but even for those few minutes it was pretty fun. It's going to be a great compliment to Battlezone. I do see what you mean about it being better developed. There's more to it.

I was a little worried at first, as it would show "game loading", then nothing. I tried a couple more times and got it to work. Afterward I cleaned the contacts, though with paper towels, as I can't stand the little pieces that cotton swabs leave behind. Now I'm just waiting to get the replacement label. The cartridge itself is in perfect shape. Not a scratch on it. Not bad for $10!

I think this issue is only temporary. Either the 2600+/7800+ dumper firmware is going to be updated to support all homebrew carts or new homebrew releases are going to be updated to support the 2600+/7800+ dumper. Or both :)

Picked up 3 more carts, but 4 more games!

Buck Rogers with a near mint label.

Freeway, decent condition, very little actiplaque

Xonox double ender with Spike’s Peak and Ghost Manor

all 4 for $30

Nice pickup. Buck Rogers is one on my wish list. Gotta love those Xonox double ender carts, there's nothing else like them.

I know Spike's Peak and Ghost Manor aren't the best developed games.

I always seem to come back them though, just to try and get a bit further..

I would love to track down a copy of Buck Roger’s one day. I was able to track down Star Trek in the box, and I was super stoked for that.
