I like it but should read the manual.

From your post I knew to move up when I spot a "hole" on the death star surface.

Have blown up that thing in second stage but did not have much clue what I am doing😅

When I got my loose cart of Death Star Battle, it came with the manual.

I just discovered a new retro shop not far from me and picked up these 3. I've been laying off from buying carts for a while, because I recently blew my budget on a couple implosive of Vectrex auctions, but I back in it now.

Never heard of Mogul Maniac before. It's a first person skiing slalom game. Not terrible for what it is.

Bump'n'Jump was one I used to love to play at my friends house on a ColecoVision and the arcades. This is a pretty good port and I've spent a couple of hours on it already.

Burger Time boots, but will not start the game. Works on my OG 4 switch so not a cart issue.

Burger Time has a PAUSE feature!

Be sure the Left difficultly switch is set to B.
Left difficulty set to A will pause the game.

Mogul Maniac is an interesting one, it was originally sold with the "Joy-board". A very early version of the Wii-fit board 😄

I had this way back when! I still have the cartridge and manual but not the Joyboard. For me it was a disappointment. While the idea was promising the Joyboard was not responsive enough for gameplay in my experience. I should know I went Skiing IRL once! 😄

Love the picture with the PUMA’s I also had a pair of those way back when and still do! 😄 All though they are not the same ones from back then. lol.

I never knew this joyboard existed, it would be nice to have one just for collection reasons.

@MrChickenz Maybe you were not heavy enough as a kid 🤣

Thanks but I don't buy from the US. Way too much shipping costs and import duties 😌

You should be able to find one at a local game expo. I’ve seen them at some of the ones I’ve attended in North America. There seem to be lots of them out there.

It was distributed only in the US and I am not in the US. So chances are very slim that I will be able to find one in the wild over here. I am such a cheapskate 🤣

Thank you for thinking along with me 👍

I've been creating hard to find manuals from the pdfs found at atari compendium.  They're original size, double sided, and center staple bound.  As true to the original as I can get.  "I am not going to pay a lot for this MANUAL!"  Is anyone else doing this?

Not really.  I've acquired a few manuals with loose carts, and a few from CIB (most of mine are just loose carts), but overall it's not something I want given all my other "stuff" around here.  Instead, as I collect games I try to find or create a manual PDF from the best sources and just drop it into a cloud storage folder, quickly and easily accessible on my iPad.

BUT, nicely done on printing out those manuals booklet-style.

Haha, yes and no. I make manuals from the pdf's but they're smaller than the originals because I was too cheap to buy a stapler large enough to reach the spine.

Yup!  I actually bought a booklet stapler just so I could staple them at home.

My trade is a printer and before I left my last employer a couple minths ago, I printed a bunch on the Xerox.  :-D

Every game I have has a printed manual for it and I read a manual every time I pop in a game I haven't played in awhile.

I have it laid out in a document file for the proper-sided configuration for the booklet style.  It took some trial and error to get some of these right.  The costs are on my company's dime. I've done Frankenstein's Monster, Pengo, and most recently H.E.R.O.  It's good to have a physical copy.  I might think twice about it as I lose real estate.

Today’s arrival, Fire Birds by ITT Family Games.

I really like this publishers labels. It was also released, with slighty different graphics, as Assault by Bomb, but yeah, Bombs labels. 🤮 OK,that's harsh, I quite like the minimal but still colour Bomb lable aesthetic, but ITTs are far superior.

In this genre Phoenix and Demon Attack are considered top tier (Although I like Spider Fighter too), with lots of poorer similar games that are generally less polished. I’d say that Fire Birds sits just below the top tier, but still features nice graphics/animation and enemy variety.

You can also shoot sideways which allows you to kill the small baddies which head straight for you after being dropped by a specific type of spaceship. The game features some more interesting mechanics, the controls… are a little unusual as you have to push up or left/right in addition to the fire button. This quickly becomes second nature and very easy to control. You can also overheat and blow up if you are not careful. I’d say that this game is really nice, I like it a lot. If you enjoy Phoenix etc then I would say take a look at this one.

Did you have any issues getting the game working on the 2600+? I have the same game and it had a huge 470uF capacitor connected to its PCB, which I had to remove to get it working on the 2600+.
