OX.
Looking for a little help if anyone knows how to load / repair these tape game WAV's as I'm unable to load them in MAME, I think they are British games and I've never seen them before so interested to see them. https://www.dropbox.com/scl/fo/edzr9ijb5vz44ng1qqkta/h?rlkey=vk7hfq76b7g71wtc9etzuqxlz&dl=0 5 Quote Link to comment https://forums.atariage.com/topic/359320-new-tape-game-wavs/ Share on other sites

Atari2600PAL
I just tried the first wav on “real iron” (played from a laptop thru a small amp) and it loads/runs fine So I guess they can all be loaded and then resaved for use on emulators 1 Quote Link to comment https://forums.atariage.com/topic/359320-new-tape-game-wavs/#findComment-5383754 Share on other sites
Retrospect
I've just loaded one of the games into Audacity ... it had a stereo track ... so I clicked "Split Stereo To Mono" and copied one track .. then pasted it into a new audacity file and exported as wav, and as a mono track, mame is happy with it. 6 Quote Link to comment https://forums.atariage.com/topic/359320-new-tape-game-wavs/#findComment-5383792 Share on other sites

I know i keep going on about them but it does my head in how they're not around at all. 3 Quote Link to comment https://forums.atariage.com/topic/359320-new-tape-game-wavs/#findComment-5383815 Share on other sites
retrodroid
I have a collection of my old XB programs on cassette that I'd like to recover to play again via emulation. What's the easiest way to transfer the tapes into .wav format (preferably on a Mac)? 1 Quote Link to comment https://forums.atariage.com/topic/359320-new-tape-game-wavs/#findComment-5383819 Share on other sites
ti99iuc
@retrodroid I have used audacity for years and it works like a charm on my Windows but there is also a Mac version of it. https://www.audacityteam.org/download/ Edited January 8 by ti99iuc 2 Quote Link to comment https://forums.atariage.com/topic/359320-new-tape-game-wavs/#findComment-5383846 Share on other sites

Retrospect
If anyone can get Forest Rally (possibly XB?) , code breaker, Core, Astro Gallery working on Real Iron let us know! Or if you're really good with audacity and can somehow repair the dodgy parts.... i won't even go there cos I haven't a clue ... ti99iuc
some about the titles - Haunted House and Wumpus (this last is from Apex Software and it was the title on the side B of the same cassette tape) - The Boss Christmas Party, Astro Gallery, and probably Forrest Rally were not commercial titles but were published in the UK magazine HCW Edited January 8 by ti99iuc 2 Quote Link to comment https://forums.atariage.com/topic/359320-new-tape-game-wavs/#findComment-5383868 Share on other sites

Otherwise I had good results with Tape994a 3.1 so far, but this clipping kills it ... after the Sync no data ... 3 Quote Link to comment https://forums.atariage.com/topic/359320-new-tape-game-wavs/#findComment-5383878 Share on other sites

On some computers there's a Line-In port , maybe hook up the tape player to a PC with Line In , with the relevant lead , and play on the tape player whilst recording into audacity? unless someone knows better. HOME AUTOMATION
Here's a little story...📖 I searched for these game-files, for a while, before attempting recovery from the .WAV files, Didn't find any ...although I missed the first instance of CODEBREAK... that was the one! Later while looking through an older listing, By chance, I came upon an entry for: CODE_BREAKERS.dsk. This list didn't show the FILENAMES, though. I hunted-down the disk entry from the list. It has three of the games! I found the File-list, for this section of disks. But, the entry for this disk, says: C 24 io error. ...haven't tried these though... HOME AUTOMATION
Well... while noise can be masked out... ...I think this file may have a format issue... such as wrong file attributes, size. There seem to be too many records for this to fit into the 9918A's 16K. Though it plays at a similar rate, it is even longer than CORE, and that requires CALL FILES(1). It appears to have an abrupt cut-off, as though it was spliced/continues. Though it could contain the game's data, I'm guessing it's corrupt or random data. I made a gag program that creates such an endless-loop SAVE... But such a file cannot be reloaded logically/sensibly. ...I'll try to look into this further if time permits. 1 Quote Link to comment https://forums.atariage.com/topic/359320-new-tape-game-wavs/#findComment-5385048 Share on other sites
Retrospect
Well , emulation is one step further in accuracy , we always had that one or more tapes that wouldn't load.
