nobru
Hi, I present to you the accessory that I missed the most on the Atari 7800. A USB joystick adapter adapted to the 2 buttons of our 7800 controller. No more imprecise controllers with poor grip, we will be able to use our beautiful, very comfortable wired Xbox and DS3, DS4 controllers from SONY. Having the great mouSTer adapter for my ST and my 2600, I adapted it for that it works without problem on our good Atari 7800. To do this, you will need to create a small card to adapt the specific signals to the 7800. and you will have to configure the mouSTer in cd32 mode (amiga controller with several buttons). modify the mouSTer.ini file and replace mode=auto with mode=cd32, then update with a USB key. example mapping 4 Firebutton (with 2 Auto Firebutton): abutton01=*red abutton02=red abutton03=blue abutton04=*blue For the creation of the card, everyone will be able to adapt the product according to these capacities and the components available from him. TO BE CARRIED OUT ONLY WITH WELDING KNOWLEDGE, RISK for the mouse and A7800 if poorly wired. I am sending you my diagram which works 100% and some photos of the adapter which will remain in prototype form. The mouSTer + the adapter transforms the whole into a 7800 controller which can be connected to Atari 8bit for example. I hope that this accessory will help you to finally beat all your HIGHSCOREs. Good luck to everyone in making it happen. Nobru, Edited January 18 by nobru
nobru
Hi, For those who have started making the A7800 adapter. Here is additional information on configuring the fire buttons on USB controllers with the MouSTer; I provide a commented MOUSTER.INI file for the CD32 part which configures the ATARI 7800 controllers. A button assignment is given to add or remove the buttons that I set by default. see attached image of the possibilities using the controllers. I am attaching MOUSTER.INI files for the MouSTer settings according to your controllers. MONSTER.INI for DS4 for PS4 controller MOUSTER.INI for DS3 for PS3 controller MOUSTER.INI for Xbox, 8bitdo for XBOX wired controller and 8bitdo SN30pro+ Please note that these MOUSTER.INI files are compatible with MouSTer updated to the latest version 3.16.2600 the update procedures are in the MOUSTER.INI file. Good adjustment and forward to pulverize your scores. Nobru, MOUSTER.INI for xbox,8bitdo MOUSTER.INI for DS4 MOUSTER.INI for DS3
Kroll
@Nobru, I would like to thank you sincerely for this project for the possibility of connecting the MouSTer and adapted to the 2 buttons of our 7800 controller. My friend from Poland, following your project slightly modified it and prepared such a version for me. At his request I upload the prepared schematic and all the necessary gerber files to JLCPCB for someone who would like to prepare such an adapter. The thickness of the board is 1.6 mm Once again a huge thank you to you. I love mouSTer and use it in my Atari computers, and now I will also be able to successfully use it in my 7800 console . nobru
Hi, Great job. I am happy to see that this assembly could be useful for the 7800. It was a shame that the 7800 was excluded from the mouSter. All that's missing is a beautiful case or molding. it's really GREAT nobru
Kroll
Important information !!! This firmware, which gave @nobru are for older version of firmware and you will not program MouSTera properly, hence I had initially problems with correct operation in some games :). If anyone uses newer firmware, I have in MouSTer version "Firmware revision: 3.17.3475". then you should use this INI file for the pad from PS4. Now Everything works perfectly, thanks @nobru once again !!! MOUSTER.INI.For PS4 pad 1
Kroll
The same friend also designed a simple case for this adapter, and here is an example of such a 3D printed case Mouster_A7800_3D.zip 1
