FWIW: I also tried a bin2ecs conversion using the CC3 flag and then changing the resulting file extension to .ROM. Didn't work on the Cuttle Cart 3.

Bin2ecs produces files that only work on the BackBit.

Bin2rom produces ROM files, which is what the CC3 uses.

If anyone here knows, since the digital package includes game files named with the date (3/25/2024) and RC5.5, is there a possibility there will be additional revisions before the game is considered final and put on carts?

Thanks to community support, numbers were reached comfortably.

Specific numbers are not being made available at this time, sorry.

The team is hard at work on getting CIBs/carts out.

Thanks for this - the game loaded just fine using JZINTV on my Mac.

I am unable to get the game to run using my BackBit and INTV II.

I am using the ECS file generated by: python3 bin2ecs.py -j ghostbusters_03252024_RC5.5.bin

The result is a blue screen.  I am having this issue with a couple other JLP titles I purchased as well (I need some time to find these titles, it has been several months since  I've been able to get back to this).

Is anyone else having a similar issue?

I generated my ECS the same way and it worked for me. Does your BackBit Pro have the latest firmware? The update to support the J flag is fairly recent.

Thanks for the replies.  Much appreciated

I am indeed not using the latest firmware - I am using 3.6.7 due to a compatibility issue with obscure Sega Master System patches that I'm using after 3.6.7, but will update firmware next time I get a chance.

I have been using the -j flag for many other JLP games such as Gadhlan since last summer.

I believe one of the other ROMs that I was unable to launch (same effect - light blue screen) was D2K Arcade.  I haven't tried to troubleshoot in a while, but have confirmed that my original cartridge of that game works.

FWIW: Evie, the BackBit's developer, has confirmed that you can safely downgrade firmware. If you find that the new firmware works for your ECSes and still doesn't support your Sega Master System patches, I would let her know in the BackBit forum. She's been very responsive to reports of specific game incompatibilities. Best of luck!

Thanks sfish!

I have downgraded firmware in the past while troubleshooting the patched SMS roms.

I updated the firmware on my BackBit cartridge to v3.8.1.  Same issue with Ghostbusters.

I wonder if using bin2ecs on a Windows PC would produce different results.

I'll play around a bit more ASAP.

I used bin2ecs.exe on Windows and am happy to report that Ghostbusters now runs correctly using my BackBit cartridge.  Thanks again for your replies!

I was also able to get Operation Cloudfire, another title which did not work using this method, running.

I noticed that D2K also included a .rom file when I purchased, and it works just fine (I had purchased a bunch of ROMs around Christmas and lazily batch scripted all of them to get processed using bin2ecs on my Mac).

I have a couple other JLP games that are not working, and have noticed that they are extremely small files.  I will use the Windows PC to hopefully fix those as well.

Have a great day!

I wrote up a little review in the "Games Beaten" thread:

Very nice review.  Thanks for sharing it.

I too have fond memories of the C=64 version, which I played for days on end, and it remains one of my favourite games of all time.  The Intellivision Ultimate Edition improves on the original in significant ways.
