I have been working on the music lately. First I wanted to implement everything with IntyBASIC MUSIC statements, then I stumbled across the Intellivision Music Tracker format.
With huge help from @DZ-Jay I managed to create a converter that takes Goat Tracker files (originally used for C64 SID tunes) and converts  them into the IMT Script / Data Format. So now I have a nice Tracker to create the tunes but still can produce Intellivision music with it.

Here is the result of my attempt of remaking the In-Game Tune from Giana Sisters. Gameplay video featuring music will follow soon :)

The track uses 2 channels only, since channel 3 is reserved for ingame sound effects.

I was quite busy these days, so sorry for the long silence.

With great help from @DZ-Jay in getting the most out of the Inty Music Tracker, I finally managed to add music to the game. So now, I have the iconic title screen and the first level running. Thank you very much @DZ-Jay for your time and your committment!!!

I am still in contact with the current IP holders of the game (Embracer Group) since I would really like to commercially release the game in the future, but I dont want to get into any copyright trouble along the way. I will keep you updated on the case.

The music sounds awesome! Impressive what the Intellivision can achieve, really. Here's hoping you'll have good luck with the IP holder

Funny that you made the title screen into a crack intro.

Thanks for all the nice replies!

@Intymike @DZ-Jay great that you noticed! I LOVE cracktros. This was just the first version, and I am planning to have a "real" cracktro in the finished game.

@cmadruga @carlsson @Snowbound1996 I have exchanged 2-3 emails with embracer so far. Sounded like they were already thinking about what to do with the giana IP. I think they did not have the Intellivision in mind, but they were not generally opposed to the idea. They mentioned they also got Limited Run Games as a distributor. They are going through a major change in company structure atm, so its maybe the worst time to talk to them... But I will keep you updated!

Thanks! But a lot of the credits goes to you! Without your help and your work, the game would not feature ANY music :)

Nah ... I only fixed the bugs that I put there in the first place.  :dunce:

Transforming GoatTracker modules to IMT format was genius.  I hope this opens the way for more musicians to make beautiful chiptunes on our little capable console. :)

That demo looks/sounds lovely!

PS: I cannot believe the original rights holders still exist, and to this day how they weren't sue by "N"!

The original back in the late 80s got a cease and desist from Nintendo. And the company had to pull the games from the shelf. But later on they settled it and newer games under that brand were released on DS, WiiU and Switch.

This looks great - I like how smooth it all is. I wish I had this game at the time for the Intellivison. I actually didn't have any platform games for mine back in the day!

Keep up the good work

Thanks.

I paused this project since I did not hear back from the IP-owners and I dont know if there is a chance for a commercial release. I started working on another project that I will post here soon!

Ooh! Exciting news!!! The second project is always the best!  (Unless you fall victim of Second-System Syndrome). :)

Don’t hearing back is normally usually a sign of We don’t care.
