Asteroids DeLuxe: 7800 - (in VCS Store)

Asteroids DeLuxe: 7800 programmed by Robert DeCrescenzo is now available on the Atari VCS 800 store priced £4.99! You might also notice when you log into your Atari VCS account you have a new news notification “ News of April 26,2024" and within it some information regarding new game releases. I don't know if this is a new thing we'll be getting each month but pretty nice if you ask me 🙂

I was really happy to see this one in the VCS store. I love Asteroids, including its many variations. Plus, $5.99 USD is a great price for a homebrew 7800 game. I bought it and played a game before work and scored over 34,000 points (on the easiest skill level.) 😁

 

I have a 2600+ and it's a great console, but I still love the ease of playing homebrews and other classic Atari games on the VCS, especially when it comes time to switching games, or even just resetting them. I hope Atari continues this trend of releasing 2600 and 7800 games on the VCS.

The physical homebrew cart contains a second, hidden game of Asteroids.

1. On original hardware, if you hold down the pause button while starting the game, it will boot up Asteroids.
2. On the 2600+ with the latest firmware and dumper, you can do the following to trigger Asteroids:  

Hold both controller buttons + Right at the same time (hold this for about 3 seconds and release)

It will then reset and start with the pause button pressed for 1 second, enough time to start Asteroids.🙂

That's a really cool bonus that they put on that cartridge. 😎
