Would anyone be interested in working on another mega demo?

don't know exactly why, but feel a resonance between the tech of TI99 and the ones portrayed in "Escape from new York".

I would suggest as a theme/title "Escape from Lubbock" or "Escape from TI" to celebrate the fact that TI99 is still alive, despite the TI home computer shutdown!

Dear Tursi,

Excuse me for being very late with a question relating to following you stated a longer time ago:

Quote

Anyway, that's why I don't want to tackle it. My code is pure brute force and we aren't brute enough yet for that. A genetic algorithm running on a GPU could potentially do a good job though! (I've seen this done on the C64, actually, it's stunning to watch ;) )

You mention a GPU. Do you mean by this the graphics chip VIC-II of the C64 or another chip, which can be embedded into the C64? If the latter is the case: Does this chip serve as a coprocessor or as a replacement for the original graphics chip?

Regards

Having grown up in Lubbock, I oppose this title!

Though... it rings  true for many.   Young adults would yearn to escape from Lubbock.  There was also an underground culture that would consider escaping from anything.

But it was a great place to be a kid.

(See "Cult of the Dead Cow", originating in Lubbock in 1984. I believe they're based in New York City now.  The more you escape...)

Sorry all, was a bit distracted with our getting our new 64k Archimedes demo shipped for Nova this weekend. Unfortunately our Amiga OCS demo gave to much of technical issues to be released so we postponed that for another party.

Trying to catch up on all the posts here, see a lot of great ideas (not sure how technical feasible it would be) and love the vibe that is going on here for another TI demo :)

Some shameless dSr promotion now :

I don't know what those who have expressed in interest in participating expect to happen now? Since you know better than any of us how to run a demo group, maybe you have ideas for how to proceed? Would it, for instance, be better to move to a more private space?

Oh, no, his converter ran on a PC. ;)

Perhaps a slack channel would be a good idea? I'm working on my first effect (an updated version of an older one, to be honest), and am very hesitant to share here as to not ruin the element of surprise...

I am not installing Slack. ;)

Fair enough, I have similar feelings about Discord :). Would you be open to using the web interface, or should we look at something else entirely?

If the latter, it's been ages since I used it, but we could look at an IRC channel?  If push comes to shove, we could probably also use the messages feature on the forum here, multi-user messaging seems to be supported? I'd just like to take it out of the open and into a space where we can share (private) youtube clips of what we've been up to, etc...

I would be okay with a private group chat on AtariAge.  Or a github project where we could create an issue for discussion about each effect we're working on, but it's still out in the open.  I am ok with discord also.

I probably don't matter, honestly. I don't know if I'm going to have time.

I thought Slack worked web-based.

It has both browser and desktop UIs, and I think it's a great app, but maybe we could start with the messenger here on AtariAge and see where that takes us?
