Turns out the diode wasn't fully soldered to the pad. I removed it and resoldered it while giving it a bit more length and now it works fine. I did this on both units I created and they both work fine now. The lesson: check and double check all solders. Reflow everything just to make sure. Thanks so much for your patience and help.
ftdi232
Does anyone have any information on the dimensions and type of screw for the cartridge shell? Thanks.
Jess Ragan
I'm just tryin' to figure out where I would get the purple Pi clone online. I did set up an account with the PCB company and they've got the Gerber files, but I still need that Pi. Maybe next month I'll order all that stuff; I'm squeezed for cash at the moment so it won't be happening now.

Took about a week to get here to the US. Paid $2.00 USD each. Ordered 10 lol Check it out! https://a.aliexpress.com/_mPkeALa Scott

MMarcoux66
Only issue I have run into on some rom files is that after selecting some games from the menu, the screen is garbled or black... a quick press of reset, the game comes up fine. Plays fine. This happens with multiple PiColecos and multiple CVs. Donkey Kong is one of the game ROMs that exhibit this. Not all games do this but the games that do are the same across the machines and PiCs. Not sure if anyone else has seen this. Feels like a ROM issue but will do some testing over the weekend. Wondering if anyone else has seen this?

Wondering if anyone else has seen this? I've seen it, and not with the PiColeco. In using a BackBit cartridge it is the same for some games. To mediate this an internal reset jumper wire can be added in the case of that cart to automate the reset necessary to start those games, but I didn't bother adding the wire and am just used to pressing reset on the console to get the game started. In short, it's not a ROM issue.

Just wanted to make sure my soldering is good :). I am building a few for friends and may sell a few, so wanted to make sure that I documented the issue or "feature" :). Still impressed with the cart even with its limitations for the cost. 1
cscotty
Anybody know what size button to use on the cartridge to go back to the menu? Amazon link would be great. Thanks!

And JLC always has a cheaper option than PCBway. Quite frankly I'm getting rather tired of all the YouTuber promotion of PCBway. Seems like everyone and their uncle are flying their flag in order to earn a few more $$$. I say find a Radio Shack and do it old school with some etching material and a copper board. Marek
Just made my cart too. Works perfectly. However, one thing: Does anyone have the same issue that the hole for the tactile switch isn't centered over the switch itself? In my case, the hole is some 2-3mm down-left from the switch. Yup the hole is definitely off center. I ended up soldering the button in a slight angle so that it's centered in the hole.

But the print of the case was so beautiful, I didn't want to risk damaging it 🤣. Yup that's the shell you published on GitHub. No complaints here though, I appreciate your work 👍🏿

How long would something like this take to print? I bought an Entina Tina2 a couple of years ago, it's cheap and works fine for pieces under 10x12cm, size that cover most cartridge shells i designed, except for the Odyssey2 and Fairchild that are bigger!! 😁 Anyway, it's needed about 4 hours for printing the top of the Coleco shell with my Tina, if that's was your question Edited September 4 by aotta

How long would something like this take to print? On my Bambu Carbon printer, it takes around an hour and a half to print both top and bottom at the same time. If you are in the US, I would be happy to see if we can work something out if you need a shell. I will report back on the button location change. I am building a bunch of these for friends and others that would like one. Edited September 4 by MMarcoux66
