MSX emulators are annoyingly arbitrary about which games they'll run, and games programmed in CV Basic are no exception to this rule. I can get Whack 'Em Smack 'Em Byrons to run in OpenMSX, but not BlueMSX or the PSP version of fMSX. I don't know if I'm missing BIOS files or what. BlueMSX in particular has been a real pain to get running properly; so much so that I've had to switch to other emulators for testing purposes. I thought this one was supposed to be the best one? (Yes, I've tried switching machines and using C-BIOS. That doesn't help either.)

By the way, does the MSX have the same 32K limit for ROMs that the ColecoVision does? I think you can take SG-1000 to 48K, and I've seen MSX games up to 128K, but I don't know if CV Basic has support for games that large without bank switching. I presume the answer is no.

I have no problem running CV games on BlueMSX.   But that could happen is for game using bank switching (more than 32k for CV)  the emulator does not support the technic used.   They are various "bank switching" implementation depending on the cartridge hardware type.  Certain emulator support them  or not.

I don't know what kind of bank switching scheme CVBasic is using?  MegaCart?

Revo: I just tried it, it ain't bad. Very crisp picture! But is there joypad support for the MSX in particular? Game Gear and Master System games work just fine with a pad, but MSX? Not so much.

Youki: I haven't made a ColecoVision game more than 32K yet. I'm just having trouble running MSX games, and CV Basic does offer support for those. Unfortunately, support for MSX games made with CV Basic seems to be... limited.

CVBasic can go up to 1 MB in MSX, it uses the ASCII-16 mapper that you must select manually in the emulator.

The MSX computers don't support directly the mappers, the cartridges are the ones with the mapping hardware (like the extra chips in cartridges for NES).
