pjduplooy
Hi Has anyone any experience using Launchbox (https://www.launchbox-app.com/)? I want to see if it can be configured for use with any of the TI Emulators. There is a thread (https://forums.launchbox-app.com/topic/48594-configuring-ti994a-for-launchbox-with-mame-emulator/) on how to do this for MAME, but for some reason I cannot get it to work. Any guidance would be appreciated.

JB Freeware
I have and use it. The trick is you have to be able to launch a game using the command line. I don't think Classic99 allows you to launch a game using the command line. You could set it up to launch Classic99 by itself but then again what would be the point in doing that. As a side note I do know that Batocera will launch TI software VERY well. It's a Linux program but there is a Windows Installer that will install everything to a USB drive that you could boot from. https://batocera.org/
pjduplooy
Hi JB I use MAME for this, and can run from command line. Launchbox however does not import a game fully. With regards to Batocera, I use Retrobat. I have toyed with the idea of using Batocera, but at this stage I cant use a spare machine for that.

The install for Batocera will go to either a hard drive or a USB drive. You can install on a USB and boot from that if you want Batocera (An external USB hard drive also works great) If what you already have works... well if it ain't broke... you know
globeron
@pjduplooy I moved to Retrobat (see the other thread) very easy to start from Windows and stable, I have videos on my YouTube channel TI99 VIDEOS (I started with Batocera, see other thread, but then you need to boot from USB and I noticed that it is slower on the same device). On whtech you can find a complete rpk package with preview images and videos (300+) and recently I changed the preview thumbs eg. blasto has two brochures some modules even have 3 different manuals. pjduplooy
Hi globeron. I have been on Retrobat for a while now. Like it a lot.
globeron
Hi @pjduplooy did give launchbox a try (they use the same emulators as in Retrobat), but I could not get it to work so far and it is not so easy to setup. Is there any specific reason to use Launchbox? if it is only for games, I think Retrobat makes your life easier and very flexible to configure per game. I tried several others as well, but this is the best (btw. I use PS4 Controllers with DS4Windows in XBOX mode and the Hidecontroller utility, then I programmed with Pad2Key with buttons like 1,2,3 and REDO, BACK, QUIT, ENTER, 5 ( for MarioBros) then for 95% of games there is no need to touch the keyboard. Everything manageable from the couch 🙂

I just never got it into the manual. If your game can be loaded with drag and drop or User->Cartridge->Open (ie: if the autodetection works), you can pass any one of the rom files to the command line to launch it. classic99.exe -rom <one of the ROM files>
