8bitwidgets.com
Hi everyone, so I recently got back in touch with Patrice. I'd been busy and figured maybe he'd found someone else to do the new enclosures which would have been perfectly fair. I'd been kinda reluctant to swap nozzles as I was worried you know.. everything is working so well, I don't want to jinx things, but I finally got the nerve up to see if 0.2mm would fix some of the quality issues I had with 0.4mm doing the number keys.. well 0.2mm was definitely worthwhile even if it does make the print time increase by about 5 fold.. worth it! Needless to say, I hadn't been replaced, but had learned that Patrice was dealing with some poor staff choices that had proven to be a big part of the issues some of us in the community have experienced this year.. He's down to himself and one other person and they are looking to restructure to get back to how things were before. I can understand that myself having tried some recent attempts to find ways to improve production, but in the end found it was better to just keep it all in house even if it does mean I may at times need a little extra time. So I figured I'd just give folks a heads up on this particular project. I have been requested to produce 30 longplay enclosures so that's what I'm cranking out now. It will likely take a week or two based on my current workload. I have some other projects to divide my time (including the new Intellivision MCP coming soon!)
Greg2600
Hmm, I enjoy the one I have but I will say the 3D cut is not precise enough, and many times the buttons get stuck in place. Wish they'd used rubber buttons instead or made the case openings larger.

I wasn't part of the previous Longplay controllers. I have the 3D models they used and am printing the same ones so there's an opportunity for me to make some small tweaks perhaps if they could fix this for everyone with the next batch. I'm also running the idea of Cote Gamers selling alternate color enclosures. This could possibly offer a chance to fix previous units with improved enclosures and get some alternate color options at the same time. Patrice hasn't confirmed or denied interest in this. This might also simply be a thing he lets me sell directly to folks and I basically just make whatever color they want that I have available. Not sure yet. Rickster8
I'm still looking for a right sided disc LONG PLAY controller. I have two left sided disc LONG PLAY controllers, but I want a right sided disc one to see if that difference helps me... I actually don't use the disc at all. I would much rather use the thumb stick that came with it, then I would use the dpad, but the disc was not very dependable so I don't ever use that.... I always have my right thumb on the disc using the Inty controllers, left hand for the side buttons....

I have it set to make 30 left handed controllers, but maybe it could be divided up.. so far i've just made all of the buttons which are universal.

The best way I can describe it is that if your thumb is right over the entire button, doesn't get stuck. However, if you only press part of the button, it can get stuck, and often does. Actual plastic buttons would have been higher and rounded, with more clearance around them, which would prevent this. https://streamable.com/drnf28 *video expires in a couple days
