Kchula-Rrit
This might be good for anyone copying files back and forth between NanoPEBs and PC. I ran across this adapter on www.newegg.com. Hopefully, the link will work but if it doesn't, the description is StarTech.com 35BAYCF2IDE Compact Flash Card to IDE Adapter. I got a couple to install into my development machines, and I'll find out if it works with Win98. The description says that the PC has to be powered-off to remove the CF board. Having ordered it, I should have gotten an extra to put into my real PEB with the IDE board (still haven't put it together yet!). K-R. This is because the interface uses the CF card as an actual IDE/ATAPI device, unlike the removable USB or PCMCIA/PCCard interfaces. In this configuration, you can (usually) boot a computer off the CF card. I have used these in the past with my Amigas and x86 machines as boot devices, before IDE SSDs and SATA-to-IDE/SCSI adapters with SATA SSDs became more feasible to use.

Thanks for pointing that out. I thought CF boards were "just removable," by their nature, like floppies or USB drives. Glad I never pulled one (CF) out with the power on. K-R. Gary from OPA
Sadly, most PC these days don't have IDE connection anymore. So on my desktop, I got one of these 75 in 1 card readers that also fits into 3.5 drive bay and connects to a USB 2 port on the motherboard and it works great to read compact flash devices https://www.amazon.ca/gp/aw/d/B000EWJYYW
Kchula-Rrit
I got one of those for my Win7/Linux system, but its performance seems rather "iffy." A friend built the computer from "spare parts" (her words) and gave it to me after her mother said she didn't want it. My friend used a PCI USB board, rather than connecting the motherboard USB ports, so I suspect those, rather than the multi-reader. The PCI board has an extra internal port; I just have to make an adapter for the multi. K-R.

I maxed-out the IDE ports in my system and was lucky enough to find a PCI IDE controller, also on NewEgg. It's advertised as being Win98 compatible, so I assume it should work with anything since. Unfortunately, it looks like finding PCI boards is getting harder, too K-R.
Gary from OPA
Sometimes you need to rearrange what is plugged into what USB port. I like this multi reader as each different slot given it's own drive letter so I can infact transfer between multiple different flash devices at the same time. I haven't found a pci ide card yet. As I got the smaller expansion slots pci types on my motherboard, but was able to find one that added back two serial ports and printer port so that was good.
