aNdy_v
Work in progress, a PETSCII version of OutRun on the C64. It now has all three tunes from the arcade game included in-game! You can hear Sean Connelly's fantastic version of 'Splash Wave' playing in the video link below! All routes from the arcade are in, along with appropriate horizon and colour changes. Collisions are now switched on - bumping another vehicle slows you down and hitting a roadside object causes a roll! Top status panel is working, along with *some* of the bottom panel. Time for real course data! 7
carlsson
I was thinking it was a PET version of OutRun first, before I read about the music and saw all the colours. That would probably be rather interesting looking if all you have to work with is alternating black and green.

To be honest, it started as a side project but has progress more quickly and grown more than I expected. If it has at least made you (and others) smile, then it makes the time spent on it worth it! It was supposed to be a bit of fun and to see if would be even possible to make a half-playable racing game purely in PETSCII. Going by your comment, my objective is already achieved!

But a PET version could be interesting too. I've just turned the cars green in my screen editor and made some alterations as an experiment.
aNdy_v
First proper test of OutRun PETSCII on real hardware (C64c, 8580 SID, SD2IEC and Konix Speedking) primarily testing the disk loading system and SID detection code. Need to loosen the collision detection a little and I can't complete the first stage at present!!!
harvengt.jm
may be you can use this extension for the PET? https://github.com/Jean-MarcHarvengt/hyperpetpico
