mischna
Hey everyone-- My Telstar Arcade was missing its name badge. With the help of some folks over in the Coleco Telstar Fans FB page, I was able to make a reproduction using black anodized aluminum and a laser cutter/etcher. From the sound of it, many people seem to be missing this part, so I hope these files help someone else. From a hi-res image of the badge, I generated some cleaned-up files which I imported into Lightburn, and out to my 22 W Falcon 2. In terms of parameters, I don't think it matters much the power and speed. I ran mine relatively slowly, but a 22 W laser isn't going to do much more than ablate the anodized coating, almost regardless of speed. 1000 mm/m @ 30% is fine. Image mode was set to 'Threshold.' Since you're ultimately looking to expose the underlying aluminum, you can use the 'inverted' version of the image (which is also used in the attached gcode). Size is correct for the Arcade (4 3/16" x 1 1/2"). Once created, I used some tin snips to cut it out, and some needle files to gently remove any excess material. While not perfect, from anything more than a 6" away, it looks great--much better than the blank space staring me in the face. Enjoy! coleco.gcode
