mamejay
Hi Team, I was recapping my PAL Intellivision and the console slipped off my desk and these 3 chips fell out. Can anyone tell me where they go? I cannot find any schematic that is actually readable. If someone can help that would be awesome!! Thanks

HunterZero
Yours is a later PAL revision motherboard (the block diagram above is based on common NTSC layout), but the locations of the SRAM, STIC and CPU are the same. It has to be said, though - the chips should not fall out of their sockets unless they are very loose... It normally requires considerable prying and force. - HZ

I managed to find the same diagram and sorted it. Yes you are correct they are very loose. Have no idea why. Silly design having the socketed chips installed upside down. Anyway, I may try and replace the sockets but I hate working on these old PCB's . Might just hot glue it and be done with it.

I replace those sockets in such cases since it isn't practical to keep using the originals once they get that worn out. Even if you tape or glue the ICs to stay put, the loose sockets can still cause issues with glitching graphics, lockups...etc.
