weirdly enough, it would be interesting if there was a screw on attatchment that just covers the screwhole, then again you'd probably need to include some kind of remover tool and what not blah blah blah...

Received mine. I guess it's an "unboxing" though I give it away in the thumbnail purposely, shoutout for Ben from Plain and Atariage forums along with some silly and fun rambling, it was for my personal fun and channel and gaming group more than the members here but since it was given to me here thought I would post, watch or don't it's just for fun 😜Skip to the 6 min or so mark for the actual unboxing.

Thanks again Ben!

I did see an unboxing video where the reviewer commented on it (he didnt like the placement) but I just thought "You're doing it wrong!". But then I thought hmmm you have small hands Ben and our American cousins surely on average have shovel sized hands, I mean they did have the Duke OG Xbox controller. Maybe I should of made a CX78+XL.

Funnily this reminded me that comments on the Atarian magazine from the late 80's would have writer comments saying " the proline is better than the nes controller because its big "

Now i know this is likely just Atari Corp's magazine being more likely to post the most positive things and a CX-78+ XL is a better option and honestly, i thought it was bigger than expected, dunno why i thought it was going to be the size of like an altoids can but it wasn't!

i just say that because i just wonder what those atarians consider the best controller now... Either way, i fear their power....

Mine arrived today, it appears Plaion had to shell ~10GBP to ship it to me States side ... much oblidged.

Silly pictures:

"No Luke, I am your father!" ....

FatherSon2.jpg.ba3cc7d4de2e3b4fa934efac6d2007c8.jpg

.... "It's over Anakin, I have the high ground" (yes yes the saber hadn't turned yet)...

FatherSon.jpg.a165fd66fda8b78470bf4a1fab961108.jpg

Seen in person the blue looks darker than the picture shows.

I have not had the time to play with "Luke" (that's what I call mine until green comes around, after all he was using a blue light saber until Vader chopped his hand off, "tough love" is an understatement).

Stickler's corner (why oh why) :

for the extremely sharp eyes ... yes the original europads (CX78)  have some slight difference wrt the new CX78+, like the ridges under the "2 button" reaching the corner in the CX78 vs stopping at about 1/8th of an inch from it in the CX78+ and they are a tad shallower on the CX78 .... as I said, Stickler's corner.

The CX78+ "nubstick" screw hole is metal vs the original that is whole plastic. My CX78 directional pads have more give (you can push them down more) vs this CX78+ but it can be simply due to the fact the directional disc has a little plastic peg underneath right in the middle directly under the screw hole that in mine has been carving into the direction PCB ... I was thinking to put a metal rivet in there hoping to greatly reduce the give, we shall see if the CX78+ is more durable in that regard (I am probably old enough to not be putting that many hours on the 7800 so that may well be a red herring).

I have the opposite problem, i have the time, just not the cash for any of the games people say are truly worth playing on the system, sure it probably was like that back in the day but its the future darn it! We made the atari buttons blue for FUN!!!!

The only really horribly expensive games are the rare 7800 carts. you know, Jr Pac Man, Space Invaders, Scramble, Frenzy.

These were all available for 60 bucks up until last year, now they all command 2 hundred or more. I tried bidding up to 300 bucks to get Pac Man collection as I have the rom and would love to play it via the 2600plus and just have the cart, but I got outbid.

On the other hand 2600 games are still relatively reasonable, but the prices have been ticking up since this thing was released. I bought a bunch of games around 10 bucks that now go for 20... etc

yeah but i think mainly its the games that i'd actually want to play that are somehow rare and expensive or require much patience to find a decent deal on like Ikari Warriors on 7800, which i used to talk about non stop... actually tf do i mean "used to" i still do!

Also in general i'm just broke, which is funny to get into Atari as a broke person today but, it was either now or later so here i am, and yes the 2600 library is still pretty good, but being broke means even cheap games are a once a month affair, i hope eventually the post 2600+ homebrews will have enough variety especially in the Simulation/Story-Driven genres to make it more viable to get custom carts made for 30 bucks every so often than to wait to pay a bunch of money for a port of a game thats cheaper on 2600.

also i cant believe its been hours since i wrote this yet i haven't sent this message lol

Yeah I understand but, You'll get games over time. Just make it a hobby. Before you know it, you will have a bunch of games that you wanted.

And don't sleep on the twenty six hundred games. There are really some good games for twenty six hundred. That are enjoyable. Yeah, they're all only enjoyable for like short periods of time like ten or fifteen minutes, but that's the nature of 2600. A simpler time. Nobody knew what gaming could even be like at that time.
