Ben's Blue Button Controllers - Share them here!

Recommended Posts

I spotted a post on X by Sauron and am lusting out over this variant a little bit..;)

I don’t even know what the story is but I’m guessing there are no more available or a way to get one in the blue color scheme now?

Maybe a little OT but are any details allowed to be shared on how this all came to be? (As in was it a contract by way of Atari asking for it or was it Plaion reaching out to Atari to do it, etc?)

I did of course pre-order and own two of them that arrived recently and I have to say, the attention to detail and quality is truly incredible. I know it’s “just a controller” at the end of the day but it’s one of the best OEM styles reproductions I’ve placed my hands on.

If it weren’t for the new packaging and copyright dates, I wouldn’t even know they’re newly created. This is the exact level of quality Atari should continue to strive for!

You can see the whole story here:

To summarize, @Ben from Plaion ordered some controllers with blue buttons just to see how they'd look, and ended up getting back more than he expected, hence the giveaway (Thanks again, @Ben from Plaion!). As for whether these will become widely available or not, keep your fingers crossed.

I don't have a red button CX78+ (or original for that matter), but I have to agree, the attention to detail seems to be excellent. It would sure be nice if we get to see more products from Atari like this.

I am glad that the controllers are landing around the world now. Did (almost) everyone pick the joypad? I don't blame you, it looked the best by far.

Couple of CX40+s were requested, the rest where all CX78+s

I’ve been playing Astroblast and messing around with Surround tonight and all the while Big Ben’s Blue Button Controller has been sitting in my mailbox all evening! It has arrived!

@Ben from Plaion made this happen!

Thank You! Ben

In the "2600+ other capabilities" topic Ben just opened a new "competition" to get a blue button controller.

Appreciate the heads up!

Back from vacation so I could pick mine blue button CX78+. The photo shows a comparison of the original CX78 with the CX78+ and the blue button one. IMG_3269.thumb.jpeg.95dfbccae9af8f0d76cb0c9eb45b623b.jpeg
BTW, I’ve read someone bitching on FB that Plaion+Atari are making their mint condition hardware worthless because the new one is so good.

I guess you can never make everyone happy. 😊

These look great! That’s awesome you have a Blue Button Controller! I never owned a CX78 controller until now. I’m really amazed at how responsive it is compared to the CX24. This works really well with a lot of games. There are some I still prefer to use a joystick with. But I’m really impressed with the CX78+ controller.

It’s too bad for those with the worthless mint condition hardware! lol.

I finally got back from my vacation to the States, where I acquired some harder to get carts. When I arrived home, I found this waiting for me...

Thank you, Ben! I'm very much a fan of the blue. 😁

Cheers,

Tony
