andymanone
Anyone, who knows me a little better, knows, that I'm a big & self-confessed THALION admirer (i.e. a fanboy from the very beginning 😊). For those who don't know THALION: THALION was very active in (and for) the ATARI ST/STE scene back then and had released groundbreaking high quality games like Amberstar, Whings of Death, No Second Prize, Enchanted Land, A Prehistoric Tale and many more. That's why I experimented a bit and tried to create a "Tribute to THALION" (and the brains behind it, like Erik Simon, Jochen Hippel, Michael Bittner and Marc Rosocha, yes, there were more, I know 😉), based on the famous THALION ST-Intro...). Here is a first attempt: Heroes of Thalion II (Female Edit V2) (The audio quality could be better, but this is just a first attempt). PS: The former employees listed above are also mentioned by name in the lyrics 😉). Cheers., andY Heroes of Thalion II (Female Edit V2).mp3

There is a short history of THALION on Wikipedia and a Preserve website the THALION Source, but unfortunately both in german language only... But you can use G-Translator or DeepL to get it in french 👍😎... Cheers, andY

Here, for the sake of completeness, are the lyrics again, In case for everyone who don't understand the lyrics acoustically so well... Code wizards conjurin' Atari gold, Erik Simon, maps and pixels unfold, Bittner's spells in binary, classics told, Hippel's beats, sonic potion, pure ol' soul. Joystick legends, Marc with biz finesse, Projects fly high, never settle for less, Thalion's realm, shining in the ST sky, All the '80s kids, keepin' the dream alive. Thalion knights, castin' digital light, Programmed glory, pixels in the night, Legends never fade, forever in the fight, Heroes of Thalion, burnin' super bright. Joystick symphonies, Hippel on the keys, Simon’s designs, artistry with ease, Bittner coding spells, no wizard app so please, Marc commandin’ fleets like digital seas. Retro vibes, memories in pixels etched, They gave us dreams, forever we’re enmeshed, Hittin’ that start button, worlds stretched, Thalion, our heroes, eternally blessed. andymanone
I experimented with two more variations. Not really sure, if you like it 🙄 If you think this is crap, that's okay too 😁 (So only if you're interested, otherwise just ignore it and move on 😎 :)) 1. Same lyrics, female vocals, but different vocal style and emphasis -> Heroes of Thalion I (Female Edit V1) (see attached) ....and another version: 2. different lyrics (see below) and male vocals -> The Thalion Legends V1 (Male Edit V1) (see attached) The Thalion Legends V1 (Male Edit V1) (Lyrics) [Verse] Code wizards in the digital daze, Flickin' switches, Erik Simon amaze, Graphic visions, design dreams in blaze, Pixel perfect, like a cat that crazes. [Verse 2] Magic music from Hippel's lab, Synth symphonies, makin' fingers grab, Earfloats in Atari's grab bag, Soundscapes legendary, Hip with no lag. [Chorus] Thalion, oh Thalion, Kings of the game battalion, Heroes left a code medallion, Legacy of digital stallion. [Verse 3] Bit by bit, Bittner built his shrine, Game mechanics sharp, genius design, Bits and bytes in a tech divine, Gamin' lines, intertwin'd, entwined. [Verse 4] Rosocha, the captain steer, Business brains, vision ain't unclear, Projects managed, no fear here, Runs the ship with skill, my dear. [Chorus] Thalion, oh Thalion, Kings of the game battalion, Heroes left a code medallion, Legacy of digital stallion. +DarkLord
I like both but I prefer the first one, with the female vocals. Thanks for both though!
leech
You missed this page; http://thalion.exotica.org.uk/ Also, Ambermoon is open sourced I believe, and has been ported to the PC... I kind of wonder why no one has deemed that it should be ported to the STe (I can't remember if it requires AGA, if it does, then maybe a port to the Falcon). Thalion has always been one of my favorites. Chambers of Shaolin was a game I still need to figure out how to get good at... They had a great art style, much like Psygnosis and Bitmap Brothers had their own style.
tresas
Both versions are great, but the first one (with female vocals) is more vibrant!!! It is very moving to read the verse "Thalion" and at the same time listen to the YM sound of Atari ST!!!!

Most importantly you should check the port itself before asking. It's completely rewritten in C#. So that's why. Then there's the source release, yes: https://github.com/jhorneman/ambermoon but to my knowledge nobody even on Amiga hasn't done anything with yet. There were patches for it to fix bugs, that is how I knew about it. Yes, there is a c# port for the PC, but I was talking about the source. Ambermoon has an interesting history for sure, as it originally only released in German, then the English version popped up many moons ago, but had some bugs. But yes, the Amiga version was bug fixed later.

So in theory, it could run on the ST? I'd guess you'd want the STe at least, but I'm not a coder, and I've seen people do some crazy things with a stock 1040ST... In that case, you are right, this is screaming for a port to Atari. 🙂 So many projects and so little time... hopefully someone who is way more into RPGs than I am will jump on this.
