djglish
How hard would it be to take the metal cover off of a floppy disk drive? I have a disk stuck in my internal drive on my STFm. I have a feeling that the metal piece that slides back and forth on the floppy is the culpret. I could try and slide something in either above or below the floppy but don't know if I have something thin enough but sturdy enough to work. djglish
I was able to get the floppy drive top off and the sliding metal piece was sprung and catching on the bottom of the drive innards. I was able to cut a piece of very thin plastic about 2" wide and get it on top of the metal piece and then the floppy came out. Put everything back together and it works like it was new. I guess I'll check the floppy disks closer before putting them in the drive.
Zogging Hell
The metal piece is fairly easy to change if you want to swap it out and save the disk. I've had it happen a couple of times and managed to 'jiggle' the disk out applying pressure in various directions.
djglish
It was a blank disk. I was going through a bunch of disks to see what was on then (not labeled, of course). I just tossed it since I have hundreds of 3.5" disks. Going through the ST disks and my 8-bit disks is going to be my winter project.
