Faced with a project of assembling several EPROM adapters. I discovered that my supply of 30AWG wire was rather low. Our local "mass component" buyer @Ksarul suggested an outfit that I had never heard of and which I had never had contact. The company is ADAFRUIT. I searched their website and found an exceptional deal on 30AWG wire wrap wire. They had 200 METER rolls for $7.50 and, when shipping and taxes were added, the total came to just over $13. Shipping was fast and it got here in 3 days. Anyone who needs to repair vias or other repairs requiring thin wire, they are probably the best deal around.

One thing led to another and I found that I also needed a wire stripper/cutter as well for the smaller diameter wire. I found a DOWELL wire stripper on Ebay for a reasonable price and it turned out to be just what I needed. aI

OMG!  That is a great deal.  And.. 200 METERS is a lifetime supply!?!

I have used a LOT of this stuff -- Geneve 2020 first edition was first built largely in wire-wrap.  I like that technology.  Keeping boards on a color code, I have used up 50-foot blue and yellow spools.  I've found that "original" Jonard brand doesn't break while wrapping or stripping. $14 for 50 foot spool now.   Altex Electronics stocks the NTE brand that is more frustrating.

The best tool for stripping the ends, of course, is a handheld wire-wrap tool.  The silver one from Radio Shack is still my favorite.   The handle pops open to store the stripping tool.   (You can also burn off the plastic with a soldering iron...)

WW is supposed to be silver-plated copper, Kynar coated, but that might not matter for bodge wires.

As this Jameco article repeats, when you wrap the wire on a square post, it exerts many tons of force, cold-welding the metal. It's more reliable than solder.   I have tried removing wire from boards that were done by machine -- it's tough.
