None of the posts I made say that?  Can you point me to what you're seeing?  I did mention that Bounty Bob Strikes Back is one of the new games released, but I didn't state it was included..

It looks good Albert! My bad. 👍

I think this is a great announcement, however I am a little confused?  The ad says it will play most 1st and 3rd party games, will it play most homebrews?  I had heard that the 2600+ would not.

I bought a lot of homebrews from Atariage over the years but I have to play them on my real 7800 and 2600 with mods but the hardware is really showing its age and trying to get SVIDEO to newer TV's is a conversion box pain.

I was hoping for a new system that can play in HDMI (and in the perfect world, would also have AV/SVideo Analog out too) that I can play my collection of homebrews like Baby Pac man, Boulder Dash, Elevator Agent, Turbo, Zoo Keeper, etc etc..

Do you know if there will be a way to play those types of games on the new 7800+ system?

Perhaps through an update if possible?

I seem to play more homebrews than original games now and would love to have a system I can play them on.

The 7800+ will ship with the latest firmware that's been improved tremendously by members of the AtariAge community over the last year.  It now runs the vast majority of 2600 and 7800 homebrew games.  For the 7800, I know that Rikki & Vikki won't play with sound, and Attack of the PETSCII Robots doesn't currently run (it uses a relatively new and unique bankswitching scheme).  For the 2600, the main homebrew games that won't run are the ones that use the CDFJ/CDFJ+ drivers, which includes all of Champ Games' latest titles.

And just when I was about to finally order a 2600+. This looks way too awesome to pass up. I'm curious, though, and apologies if I've missed this somewhere else, but will the 7800+ eventually get support for Rikki & Vikki? I simply can't use a modern replacement system over a real 7800 unless support for that game is included.

EDIT: Oops, if I waited another minute to post I would've seen the answer to this question. Will they eventually be able to add sound support for Rikki & Vikki?

No problem, but I did go back and look at all my posts! :D :D

I saw including BBSB and didn't read the sentence above it! I've heard of Selective Hearing but didn't realize there's also Selective Reading 😂.

I assume this is an issue with the emulator being used in the 2600+/7800+, and that the emulator doesn't presently support the unique audio solution Rikki & Vikki uses?  I'm sure others know more about this specific issue and whether not a solution is feasible.

Very excited for this announcement. Not so much for the 7800+ (though it would be nice if I didn’t have a plethora of vintage hardware already), but because some of Bob D’s greatest hits are getting new life after the AtarAge Store Last Chance sale. I’m definitely picking up Frenzy and Asteroids Deluxe (two I had to omit from my Last Chance order so as to remain under budget).

Those two are still available in the AA store, they weren't part of the last chance sale.

I love my 7800 set up.  I use the Retrotink and get a nice picture BUT the upscaler on the 2600+ gives me a much better picture.  I'm definitely adding this to the collection even though I can just update the 2600+.  I like the wireless controller and the official new games!

Can you use standard wire controllers (CX-40+, CX-78+) in addition to wireless controllers?

Yes.  The wireless controllers use a DB9 dongle that plugs into the system's joystick ports.  You could plug in your own compatible controllers instead of the dongles.

Oh wow! This really is amazing to find out. I use to enjoy the 7800 console growing up with my family and was thinking of getting back into it. Now's the chance to do so. :)

This really says something positive about Atari, AtariAge, and Plaion. Thanks to everyone who helped and to the companies for keeping up with the pace of the firmware.

@Albert @Ben from Plaion

Seems like AtariAge.com would be referenced in this survey on Atari.com after placing an order:

I selected other and said "Ben from Plaion on AtariAge.com"

Hot news for sure, good stuff.

I think the weakest of the releases is the M-Network multicart. Having an M-Network multicart is a great idea, but just having four games and one of them being Frogs and Flies is a pretty weak collection. Put all the M-Network possible (minus Tron, He-Man, Kool-aid) and it'd be a killer compilation.

As someone who waited and did not purchase the 2600+, this is exciting.  It also helps that I've never purchased a physical copy of BBCQ, and the discounted mega bundle is quite attractive as a pre-order.  I mean, all the controllers and the game are worth like half the price at least.

The integration of the community firmware - super positive.  The increase in game selection also VERY encouraging.  I'd say this definitely moves an old crusty collector further into the camp that thinks current Atari is doing things right.

Does that mean that new pokeys are available somewhere? Or do the carts have Hokeys in them but the dumper and emulator just plays the emulated pokey like it does when I use my Ballblazer with its pokey removed, but still plays all audio on the 2600+?

I'd also be interested in the answer to this question, but it probably doesn't impact my purchase decision.

Agreed. With all of this exciting news announced, one thing that is understandably overlooked is the 2600 Realsports collection. I think that is a nice collection for the price.
