I can say from my own perspective i did not want a 2600+ because i already own an OG sixer i inherited from my grandfather; so the overall look was not really something i found interest to me (i found it kind of small also in comparison to the full size sixer). The 7800+ while mostly the same internally from my understanding to a 2600+, i never had one since it was before i was born and the look is far more appealing to me from a design choice, and the controllers and pack in are much more appealing to me as a consumer. My only hope is new content is created to support the 7800+ / 2600+ in the long term, and that the emulation is further expanded to handle the more impressive and bigger titles like Attack of the PETSCII Robots or Rikki and Vikki, because as time goes on, and assuming more strides are made with the hardware, the emulation should be able to handle anything (or close to) that's thrown at it, peripherals as well. I will be picking this up for sure upon release.

This is why it makes sense to have both the 2600+ and the 7800+.

My nostalgia is with the 2600 esthetic so I like having that on my gaming shelf but the 7800+ opens the door for a different experience and nostalgia for others.

We are moving in the right direction and I’m excited to see what’s next.

@Ben from Plaion  I was wondering where you were! Where did you stay when you were there? Did you tour the Blue Button Factory while you were there? Lol. This is great news looking forward to getting my pixel fix like it’s 1986!

I stayed at my normal place, Wanda Vista Dongguan. Had many meetings with all the stakeholders, tooling factory, injection molding factory, printers, PCB guys and assembling factory.

Kicking ass and taking names.

One thing we sorted was parity on 2600+ IO PCB and 7800+ IO PCB. More to come. We have been working!

Did you see any news on the microswitch front?

Dude I have had a non stop trip to the factory over the last week. Indeed the factory was the same guys that made the blue button stuff. It was a whistle stop tour. Lots to talk about....you came up in conversation a couple of times... I remember saying well we need to sort x out cause MrChickenz needs it!

Sorry I missed your post I had to pick up Pizza! Well, I greatly appreciate you thinking of me! I’m glad I was included in the conversation! Lol. Thank You! I’m excited about the release of the 7800+ as I was when the original 7800 was released. I purchased a 7800 when it was released in 1986. And I still have it! So I can’t wait until the 7800+ is released! Thanks Ben!

That’s awesome!

We are shipping these games simply with the intention of offering separate products for people to experience the games, Honestly, shipping them separately or together is not a deeply thought out decision, bottom line is that we are talking about a few thousand units of sales either way.

You keep on making individual games. I love those games boxes and I'll keep right on buying them.

I'm gonna give that a HELL YEAH!

Just to be clear that's parity going forward

The factory are designing a new IO PCB for 2600+ that will work same as the new 7800+. New 2600+ machines manufactured next year will have them

Plus Ill be getting a load of the new PCBs and will be giving them away on AA like what I did with the updated socket PCB.

I have no news on whether the original 2600+ IO PCB can have its firmware updated to feature the improvements seen in the 7800+

Oh Man!!! This is great news! I was hoping this would happen! I’ll preorder one now! Hey any chance on a Darth Vader 2600+? I’d like to display it next to my 2600+ 4 switch and 7800+! Hee hee!

Thanks for clarifying Ben, I assumed you meant a new board for newly manufactured 2600+'s. I am looking forward to another giveaway. :)

Hopefully the same features can be added to the OG board too, but I understand if not.

I can’t believe the Effort and Hardworking Determination that’s going into bringing back the Best Atari Experience in years!

It really is awesome to see. I've never experienced this level is support for any product ever.

I bought the 7800+, not just for Star Raiders and a better cartridge slot(My updated 2600+ PCB was borked), I bought it to support Plaion as well.

Hell, Ben has my Pitfall II trying to raise it from the dead. He didn't have to do that for me but he is. Maybe it's a rule imbedded inside the Commonwealth (I'm Canadian) to help other Commonwealth countries in need. #Godsavetheking

 :)

I think your Pitfall iI cart is dead. Putting it into a couple of 2600+ machines, sometimes the cart itself makes an odd buzzing sound, which doesn't bode well.

I bought an original 7800 and a AV mod kit but then I realised I haven't got a power supply for it and they are rare to find on eBay.

So anyway, going to send the cart to @JetmanUK and he's going to try it on his machines to confirm if it's dead dead.

Then we'll go from there

Too bad it's dead. Thank you for trying to get it going. Means so much to me.

A beer will be waiting for you if you ever come this way across the pond. :)

Can't promise anything, but I did ask the factory if they could make a replacement for you. Let's see if yours is dead dead first then we'll go from there

Holy...wow. I didn't even think that would be possible. Thank you so much (Even if they say no to you)

My friend @SenorRossie used a standard XH2.54 2pin plug which he slightly modified so it can be used with a generic 9v power supply.

I would be happy to make one for you.
