Just to be clear that's parity going forward

The factory are designing a new IO PCB for 2600+ that will work same as the new 7800+. New 2600+ machines manufactured next year will have them

Plus Ill be getting a load of the new PCBs and will be giving them away on AA like what I did with the updated socket PCB.

I have no news on whether the original 2600+ IO PCB can have its firmware updated to feature the improvements seen in the 7800+

That sounds great🤗

Hopefully the 2600+ manufactured next year will get a kind of marking, even Amazon buyers can be sure to get the latest revision🤔

Many thanks!!!

My friend @SenorRossie used a standard XH2.54 2pin plug which he slightly modified so it can be used with a generic 9v power supply.

I would be happy to make one for you.

Ah that would be great, thanks Fred.

The level of support for this product has been 2nd to none. I can’t thank you @Ben from Plaion and Plaion enough for working with the community through the forums and in the background with the community at large. 🙂

Agreed.  From the firmware journey to the hardware cartridge slot swap-outs and the conversations on these forums, the buy-in feels like a unique part of living history.  Although it certainly was not "plug and play" easy, I enjoyed swapping out the cartridge slot and will eagerly await the time to swap the IO PCB, as well.  Looking back on the year with this device, I have no regrets and am all in on the future.  Ben's work and communication/support have been awesome.  Full steam ahead!

I want to echo others here that have offered kudos. What you, your team, and the AA folks here have done together is incredible.

Everything from the 2600+, new controllers, the expanding games lineup.

I love that it’s all pushing the platform forward with improvements and enhancements. Taking them beyond where they left off.

I appreciate that you folks are not just leaning in on nostalgia for quick cash off of old folks like me with no impulse control. LOL. 🙂

It’s cool to be on Facebook and see folks comment on the 2600+ and to be able to say. “These folks are very active on Atari Age forums and many of your questions/issues are addressed! Check it out!” and toss them a link.

I do have a question, I’m going to pre-order the 7800+ and I already have one of the 2600+ launch models.

Will it be possible at some point for me to purchase the new pcb as an upgrade for my existing 2600+?

Or will it be possible for me to swap the 7800+ pcb into my 2600+?

This may sound stupid but my childhood nostalgia is for the 2600 as that is what I had growing up. So I’d love to have that one be the one that ultimately supports all the controllers and features and be the one sitting in my entertainment center.

Not a deal breaker or hugely important in the grand scheme. But I figure it cannot hurt to ask.

p.s. Yes, this is my monthly check in on the thread where I come in hoping to see a Star Raiders announcement. LOL.

It’s alright. I’ll come back in December. LOL.

Thanks for the kind words and nice one for sending links to AA from Facebook.

Yes you will be able to buy the new PCB for the 2600+. Albert will list it on AA.

No you can't swap out the PCBs from the 7800+ to a 2600+ because they are different sizes and different configurations.

Thanks again Ben

Ah thanks but let us never forget the real heroes - Chris Smith, Fred Quimby, Mike Saarna and Albert.... and of course the guys at the factory.

Awesome! Top shelf!

It was mentioned that there was a sorting out of parity with regards to the 2600+ IO PCB and 7800+ IO PCB. Is someone more knowledgeable to explain what that means? It goes over my head a bit.

Okay, it is great to be able to do something in return. A 7800 power supply will be coming your way.

I think your Pitfall iI cart is dead. Putting it into a couple of 2600+ machines, sometimes the cart itself makes an odd buzzing sound, which doesn't bode well.

I bought an original 7800 and a AV mod kit but then I realised I haven't got a power supply for it and they are rare to find on eBay.

So anyway, going to send the cart to @JetmanUK and he's going to try it on his machines to confirm if it's dead dead.

Then we'll go from there

If you have the patience to visit the site, I would recommend check out Best Electronics. Read this. They have made an improved version

Its 11/30 the official release date or is that just a placeholder?

Still planned for 11/29. Nearly all launch stock has been manufactured and is on route to distribution warehouses. Some stock is already in the US. It's certainly a JIT operation.

Whenever I visit that site I always think they've mastered the brutal aesthetic design to a tee.

Well shit I don't want to come across as a dick with my comment. It was a light hearted quip.

Style matters nothing compared to substance.

It's clear Best Electronics have been supplying the market with insanely great product for a lot longer then I have. Their attention to detail is something I whole heartedly respect.

Fantastic news. Thanks again for everything you do. ...and to make the dream of us children over 50 come true. I apologize for my horrible English.

You always apologise for your English.

You don't need to. Your English is better then my Italian!

So - not the topic for it I know - but the Pitfall II cart repair and making a new one piqued my interest.  That cart is *impossible* to find in Australia.  Is there *any* chance of Pitfall II being republished?  Or - a hail Mary - the 5200 version with the 2nd cavern getting a 7800+ / 2600+ release?  Hoping the universe is listening on this.
