TGB1718
I've just purchased one of these to convert the output from my STE via a Centuriontech.eu ST2VGA r4. Previously I used a standard VGA cable to a VGA monitor and could always get hi-res mono, I wanted to be able to use medium and low resolution so purchased one of the above devices. So I'm using the VGA in to the 8200 and VGA out to the monitor, what I'm finding is the display is not stable in either mono or colour. I do see both mono and colour displays but it appears to lose sync and then recover although even when recovered the display is not correct, stretched or multiple desktops across the screen. I have tried changing the output resolution but it has no effect. I'm pretty sure I've see in this forum that people are using these devices successfully so I am hoping it's me missing something obvious
Chri O.
GBS 8200 needs video sync mixer on Atari 1040 STE (H sync+V sync to (C sync)) see this: Atari 1040 STF SCART to GBS-8200 not working
TGB1718
@Chri O. yes, I spotted that the vertical sync, (although there's a pin for it, is not connected), so had a bit of a play and found if you connect the 8 pin cable supplied and short the yellow and grey wires (yellow is VS, grey is HS and S) HS and S are shorted together on the board I now get a picture, probably not the best I've seen, but that may just be the monitor. There is some noise along the bottom of the display, but using the menu to change the H and V size and position, you can move this off screen. I did check the STE circuit and there's a 33 ohm resistor in-line on the VS and HS lines, so safe to short together. I think the picture can be improved, going to try another monitor first just to be sure, if that doesn't work then I think making the little buffer circuit to join VS and HS might improve things, prefer not to have to do this as it will mean a breakout board in the cable or at least between cables. But at least some success.
+DarkLord
At this point in time, it's hard not to mention the RGB2HDMI mod. It's output is simply stunning...
snarkdluG
I highly recommend modding the GBS 8200 with GBS-Control.

krupkaj
GBS-Control is great for low and mid resolution. But unfortunately it does not work in high res, even not in pass through mode.

I got my ESP8266 board today, but having real trouble compiling the code, I've followed all the instructions to download all the required libraries, but it still complains bitterly during the compile. I've spent hours trying to fix the issues, fix one and another pops up. Fixing missing files/libraries is fairly easy, but now its complaining about parameters and references in the code. So obviously something is still missing, but for the life of me I can't figure out what it is. Anyone have a compiled version or a pointer to the compiled code. EDIT: Went back , uninstalled everything, started all over again, would appear I had installed 2 different versions of some libraries. Still code refused to compile, turns out there's a missing file which defines the pin definitions, so I had to add:- Then it compiled cleanly, not sure why those definitions are missing, seems sort of important Next step connect up and see what happens #define D1 5 #define D2 4 #define D6 12 #define DEBUG_IN_PIN D6 Edited August 24 by TGB1718
