spikemorrissey
Dear all, Using the rom from Trebor's pack - supposedly the most reliable set out there - I cannot get any sound from Bentley Bear's Crystal Quest I have no issues at all with any other games Could anyone advise please? Trebor
The emulator you are using is leveraging a ProSystem code base that is archaic. Although you may be experiencing "no issues at all with any other games", that is based upon the ones you have tried. Attack of the PETSCII Robots will not work. Donkey Kong PK will likely have no sound. E.X.O. will not run at all. Popeye will likely have no POKEY sound and graphical glitches, at the very least... ...among other issues for additional titles. The solution is utilizing an emulator that is more current and contains better system emulation accuracy, such as A7800, BupSystem, JS7800.
spikemorrissey
Thank you for the reply. I am using a raspberry pi 4 running retropie. I believe Prosystem is the only available 7800 emulator for Retropie sadly unless you can correct me? I have the pi inside an empty 7800 case with working power/select/reset switches so I would love to be able to preserve that setup if possible whilst running all games
+Karl G
I don't know retropie, but can you run apps other than emulators under it? If you can run a web browser, I'd try js7800 and see if you have luck getting it to run games well enough on that system. I'm also wondering if anyone has tried to compile a7800 on a Raspberry Pi.
+Atarius Maximus
It's been a while since I've used RetroPie but I know that prosystem is the default core used for the 7800, and as it was already stated it's very outdated. You can change the emulator core from within the configuration options menu in RetroPie for any system, but I don't have it set up anywhere to provide further instructions. I don't know if other 7800 emulators are pre-configured as options to install from the configuration menu. A google search would likely point you in the right direction. It is a linux system at it's core so it's possible to install and run emulators outside of the RetroPie front-end, but I suspect that isn't what you are looking to do. ChazB
The Bentley Bear's Crystal Quest game works well in the Atari 7800 Pro System, the original system in the Atari GameDrive. Love the game.

Correct, the Atari Gamestation Pro is running a variant of RetroArch that leverages an archaic ProSystem code base for its 7800 emulation.
