AFAIK this has not been communicated yet...

Please let @raz0red do the communication.

Raz0red isn't the one working on Controller input changes, that's someone else. I also didn't communicate anything one way or the other. I merely asked that people not speculate based on nothing towards the negative.

I think everyone is allowed to speculate here, also when the speculation is negative in your opinion. I don't think it is wise to try to shut them up.

So you don't think it's negative to assume functionality that doesn't exist yet - isn't being worked on, and won't ever be added? That seems like the most negative take on that subject I can think of.

Also - I have just as much right to "shut them up" as you do to try to shut me up, like you are here.

What I can tell you as FACT is that attempting to add the other controllers to the 2600+ firmware IS being worked on. This isn't my opinion, nor is it speculation.

Ofcourse I think it is negative to assume that the driving controllers/keyboard controllers might not be supported. We agree about that, but that does not mean people are not allowed to speculate that the driving controllers/keyboard controllers might not be supported.

I never tried to shut you up. I tried to make you understand that it is not helping communicating about work OTHER people are doing. For me it is nothing more than hearsay. You can talk about facts, but we have to believe you without any evidence.

You wrote that (other) people (than you) are "working" on a solution. So you are speculating too about the support of these controllers, because you also don't know if they will be supported.

I've kept an eye on this thread, and it's no fun reading the bickering.

For me, yeah, I would LOVE keypad and driving support, but it's not something that will get me down.  I am just LOVING this machine as it is with the updates that have happened.  I won't lose sleep if I can't play Indy 500 with the driving controllers or Star Raiders with the keypad.  With the many, MANY other games I can play, I am beyond satisfied!

Heck, I'm so satisfied that after playing a game, I might need a smoke.  And I quit smoking years ago!

Why do you have a problem with me communicating things that I have direct knowledge of? The people who have shared this info with me don't have a problem with me sharing it. We've discussed it and I know what I am allowed to share and not share and when. The only person upset about it here is you.

I currently have the beta 1.1 rev 2 installed. Currently I have no issues with any of the joystick games I have, and the only problem with paddle games is the known jitter issue, which is most prominent in Super Breakout, so I don't play that one.

Would there be any advantage for me in updating to the firmware listed on the Atari page, or should I just leave well enough alone? Especially if there is no improvement in the paddle jitter issue.

I find the Experimental Firmware Update is outstanding! No improvement to Super Breakout as of yet but there is so much more compatibility with the Experimental Firmware Update from @raz0red Thread. In my opinion it’s worth updating to this Firmware.

I believe this will be the official release soon. I believe the Firmware from the Atari page is an older version, but will soon be updated.

Because you often create confusion with a lot of your remarks and create so much room for misinterpretation.

iam trying to update but it wont recognize my atari 2600+ get usb error what to do ?

Try using different USB ports if you can. Also check the connection to the back of the 2600+. Unplug it then plug it back in, then try again.

@Ben from Plaion

I tested the official firmware update (with new IO board), no problems for me as usual.

But thinking of people not very skilled I would make same changes.

First of all, to download the zip from Dropbox you have to do many clicks in Dropbox website.

I think there shouldn't be:

- zipped folders inside the main downloaded zip

- folders inside folders with the same name

- _MACOSX folder.

I would add that image:

no get the jingle but nothing weird :(

nothing in device management :(

I see in your signature that you are already on "Atari2600 Plus EXP-FW v1.1x-r6" At the moment there is no newer version available.

@AtariYMás009 just confirmed this in another thread.

The 2.0 update is not even a new one, they just changed the name to an older version of the experimental firmware.

I recommend that you install the latest versions of dumper and firmware that are on this forum.

So what has changed since you updated the 2600+?

Did you use the USB-A to USB-C cable that was included with the 2600+?

Have you followed the steps written here: https://atari.com/blogs/newsroom/updating-atari-2600-firmware ? It is important to follow these steps litterally, so for example to upgrade the dumper software you have to switch the TV-type to Black and White and turn on the 2600+ with Game Select pushed down.

i did do it right but get this error davy1.png

Luckily I am Dutch too, so I can read it 😀

That is a message of Windows telling you that the connected device is generating a error on the USB connection. If you have this error message on both computers (you wrote that you would try it on an old laptop too) then the problem is probably not caused by the computer/laptop itself, but you can check that by connecting another USB device to the same computer. Please do a restart of your computer after you see this error message to make sure your USB port on your computer has been reset.

Try to use another USB-A to USB-C cable to rule out problems with the cable. If the problem still exists there might be a problem with the USB-C connector of the 2600+.

Here is an article about this error in Dutch, maybe it is helpful to you: https://www.pcwebplus.nl/problemen-met-usb-poorten-en-apparaten-verhelpen/

fixed that it does do nothing at all now get gingle i look in device management and nothing threre :(

Just to be sure, if you own an Evercade console the drivers of the Evercade are conflicting with the drivers of the 2600+. So if you have an Evercade you must uninstall the drivers of the Evercade or use another computer.
