While I agree that I don't expect the new giveaway to be in THIS topic, yes. Yes, I absolutely have that reaction.

I chased the whereabouts of the next batch of the IO PCBs with the new cart socket last week, they are coming. Once I have them in my hand this thread is where the giveaway will be. Cheers Ben

Whilst the new socket is an improvement, I still have little to no issues with the original socket.

I am getting some more made and will be doing another giveaway and then sending the rest to Albert from him to list on the Atari Age store from there on out.

Hi Ben, I never got mine...

Did they all go out?

Finally had the opportunity to have my cartridge socket swapped out. This new socket really makes a difference. Thank you @Ben from Plaion for the socket and @-^CrossBow^- for swapping mine out.

All 2600+ manufactured in the last couple of months come with the new socket. Additionally all 7800+ from day one come with the new socket.

Really feels like an OG 2600 cart socket. My Activision games are working on first try.

Every time I see a post by Ben here, my heart starts racing... 😅 I don't want to miss out on a contest, but I guess if I do miss, I can always wait to buy it at AtariAge...

Yep. Every time I see a post here of any kind my heart starts racing, figuring I missed out again.

I have a batch of new IO PCBs with the new socket ready, just waiting for ribbon cables to be delivered then we are on.

Yes! So, if we win this giveaway we can give away the new socket you gave away.  Where will you be posting about this, do you think?

Is this one of the "parity" PCBs you mentioned here? I've installed the Rev 2 PCB from your last giveaway, and I don't want to mistakenly try to win something I already own.

My video on the board swap process will be ready for viewing tomorrow morning at 8:00am CST for any that haven't done it yet and might be nervous or in general if you just want to know how to get inside it and take down the PCBs without damage to anything.

I'd link to it but it is private until the scheduled time so I will post the link to it from the YouTube and websites thread here in the forums tomorrow.

Does the new I/O board have the HALT signal connected?

Does it allow paddles to work with less jitter?

Does it make paddles work for 7800 games?

Does it allow single button joysticks be detected properly?

So many questions...

THANK YOU so much for putting something like this together! I'm hoping to get one of the new boards and having a video to follow along with to make the process go smoothly will be SO helpful :)

It is public now. Although for reasons I can't figure out...YT insists on having the word UAV in the title when it is linked even though this video has NOTHING to do with UAV boards or drones.

Great video @-^CrossBow^-. Also, nice way to end it with Ball Blazer. Love the POKEY tunes.

This question was on my mind too, but I would guess that the new boards which will match 7800+ features will not have been manufactured yet.

Is that correct @Ben from Plaion?

Anyway, if they do manage to update the 2600+ firmware to add the features then we won't need to swap out our revised socket boards... although the fact that they are going to the expense of updating the board makes me think it's a safety net in case they cannot. Let's see, good minds are on this. :)

I'm very much looking forward to the "parity" IO PCB for the 2600+. 😀

Yep, count me in for the parity I/O board, if the next giveaway is like the previous I/O board, I step back of course, as I have this one already installed 🤙

Many thanks to Ben again!
