I feel your pain. Same issue. Got a copy of Pitfall II and not working yet. Hoping new cart slot from Ben and firmware will help. 🙏

Very much cleaning and the last dumper FW should do the job. I've got a PAL and NTSC one and both denied service at the beginning but work fine now🤗

The new slot helps but I got them running in the old slot as well but had to insert the cart at certain angle and lift them up a bit.

How ever, I read somewhere that one cart was actually dead... could happen but most carts are finicky and finally work😊

Yeh, My Pitfall 2 did take a few tries to boot. Has to kind of shape into your cart slot.

If you think about it.. most of the original carts have been inserted into many Atari consoles(VCS/Junior/7800) unless you have owned it from back in the day. I personally think the cart gets accustomed to whatever cart slot.

I've got H.E.R.O PAL, thought about an NTSC version but yeah... the price.

Ordered A.R.T.I. (together with Exo) but I don't think they get shipped already.

By the way...

"Controller Support

A.R.T.I. supports several controller schemes. You can play the game with a two-button controller (a minium of two-buttons are required for A.R.T.I.), but you can also use an SNES (Super Nintendo) controller when paired with an SNES2Atari adapter, and you can use a Sega Megadrive or Genesis controller when connected with a 7800 Mega adapter. The SNES and Genesis controllers enable you to use additional buttons to activate your jetpack and allow you to easily pause the game."

We should start a thread "Additional controller support" once the 7800+ is out, so I can add my annoying question "when do I get more than two buttons on my Mega7800/8bitdo/Genesis Controller for A.R.T.I"😅

Annoying children we are 😉

A.R.T.I. has been listed as pre-order for a loong time. Since my first order took a while, I have been waiting for them to get more help. Something they said was happening. I don't think it has yet. Regardless I need to wait till I get my wireless two-button 7800 controller first!

I ordered ARTI a while back too, and I did actually get two emails from Albert last week, explaining that they are moving through the orders and we haven't been forgotten about.

The problem with Pitfall II being finicky on most consoles is the contacts on the board aren't wide enough, and the board itself is thinner, so it sits a little loose in the cart slot, even on real 2600s and 7800s. This was a 1984 release, when Activision tried to go cheap on the manufacturing process on the lead up to the crash. I remember when playing back in the day on my original 7800 and having to tell my brother not to come bounding into the room when I was playing it because the slightest shaking of the floor could knock it loose and crash the game.

Star Wars the Arcade Game. I have a loose copy but have been looking for a CIB. Unfortunately its become very expensive.

This is also on my wish-list. There is a CIB copy on ebay UK going for £499! Think I'll just have to settle for a loose copy £50 or so..
