Jaguar cd ? player

My cd player that has been working great decided to not work after buying the protector SE cart & resurgence cd - which could be related? It will not play any cd games. It only flashes the question mark. I have tried the bypass cart as well as Jagtopia and of course the Memory cart. The discs will not even spin. If I can't fix it does anyone want a total package with nearly every single game put out? (note I have a Loaded Gamedrive too).

First things first...  clean the cartridge connectors.

Make sure the central hub that the discs rest on has not been pushed down too hard.  If so, it will bind against the lower case and cause the discs to not be able to move.  If it has been, CAREFULLY pry up on it and it should pop back up in place.

I cannot remember of hand where the lid closed microswitch is located, I think it is in the hole the lid catch goes into, but wherever it is with out a disk and the lid open push & hold something in to the hole to depress the microswitch that tell the Jag the lid is closed.

Then turn on, you should be able to see both the spindle that rotates the disc turn and the optical head move both back and forth and up/down as it tries to read the discs TOC.

If neither of those things happen then either you have not closed the microswitch or it may be faulty, if both happen then remove whatever you are using to close the microswitch and if you have one see if it will play an Audio CD.
