IcedCornholio
Hi, long time Atari player but first time in AA posting, or maybe second. Anyway I see the AA store has Bentley Bear for the 7800 for $60 but the mothership is selling it as a preorder for $30. Is it the same, or do you only get the Hokey on the $60 game? Does anyone know? +groundtrooper
@PacManPlus might be able to chime in on the differences or maybe @Albert.
doctorclu
Be interested to know also.
Defender_2600
I think they have completely different PCBs. And Al builds the cartridges by hand (and does an excellent job). But Bob said the game is the same.

vomitis
I'd like to know also. I've had the $60 game on order since June of 2023. I also have the 7800+ on preorder. If they are the same and both have the same pokey audio I'd try and cancel my order for the $60 dollar game.

I did ask during PRGE how the pokey audio in Bentley was being handled in the new Atari sold version of the game. I was told it is the same HOKEY chip setup as what AA has been using for a while now. So I believe they might be the same PCBs just different artwork and Atari is using newly molded 7800 case shells. I saw them in use on the prototype cart for Bounty Bob they had in the 7800+ console at PRGE and asked @Ben from Plaion about it when I noticed the differences. First of all @-^CrossBow^- it was so great to meet people like yourself and @sramirez2008 at PGRE, talking things over was super enjoyable and informative, so thanks a lot. Regarding the carts on the stand with Pokey (or Hokey) sound, it was a miracle we had them in time. It was only a few weeks ago the final design was confirmed working after some intense back and forth with the manufacturer and Fred. I'm not sure whether its exactly the same Hokey set up but assume its similar. Thanks again, Ben

Not sure I can make it next year but hope to speak you again in the future!

And here I'm getting antsy about having A.R.T.I on preorder for 4 months. You have some max level patience.

There are MANY of us that have been exercising maximum patience waiting for Last Chance orders. The irony is that many of these games have since become available from other publishers and could already be in our hands if we ordered them from these new sources. So we will keep waiting. We know we will eventually get them. But like Tom Petty sang "The waiting is the hardest part."

It's like waking up early Christmas morning, looking at the presents under the tree.. and having to wait for everyone to wake, shower, shave, dress and eat. The excitement is palpable! haha. +Propane13 Posted yesterday at 11:09 AM Share Posted yesterday at 11:09 AM How much do HOKEY's cost? My understanding was that they were rather pricey, leading to the higher than normal costs of manufacturing. Having the same cart go for half price has me bewildered. I am not sure how they accomplished that and still make both a profit and also pay the author a royalty.

Not that I actually know, but one could imagine a huge cost difference between say making 200 handmade carts vs 10,000 on an offshore production line? sTeVE

At least that's what they cost when they were initially offered initial Concerto Cart owners. I think maybe they are a little bit more now. The Basics might be $15 retail. So no they aren't expensive. They are CHEAP compared to POKEYs. I would assume that if Atari SA were buying them in bulk so they would probably be getting a bulk discount from Fred.
